Dating app Bumble is putting the kibosh on body shaming.

The company announced Wednesday that the app would begin throwing out members caught using “language that can be deemed fat-phobic, ableist, racist, colorist, homophobic or transphobic.”

The new restrictions will apply to users’ direct messages as well as those with profiles that openly discriminate against different body types.

“Body shaming is not acceptable on or off of the Bumble app,” a statement from Bumble reads. “For those who may not know, body shaming means forcing your opinion of a ‘good body’ onto others.”

An algorithm has been set up to flag words and phrases associated with “body shaming,” then assessed by a live moderator, according to the Guardian. Warnings will then be sent to users at their first offense — along with sensitivity-training materials — before being banned entirely.

The Austin, Texas-based company wants to foster “a kinder, more respectful and more equal space on the internet,” said Naomi Walkland, who runs Bumble’s overseas marketing division. “Key to this has always been our zero-tolerance policy for racist and hate-driven speech, abusive behavior and harassment.”

A 2016 survey by WooPlus, a dating app for plus-size women, found that 71% of 1,000 users who called themselves “curvy” had also been fat-shamed by men on other dating apps. More broadly, a 2020 Pew study found that 33% of women on dating apps had been called an offensive name by another user.

Fans of women-centered app Bumble — which urges lady users to “make the first move” — say the move is another reason why they love the company.

“I’m very interested in seeing how this works, and also EXTREMELY happy to see it launch,” tweeted music journalist Courtney E. Smith.

Some are calling for other dating apps to take note.

“Maybe @Grindr could follow suit. That app is a cesspit of toxicity around the body and race,” said one fan of the change.

Making rules against calling ugly fat people "ugly and fat" isn't going to male them less ugly and fat.

It's been interesting to watch the dating sites get woke and try to find some way to reconcile the desire to be all-inculsive with the fact that to use the sites, you have to, well, CHOOSE one person and reject the rest, thereby, fundamentally, being a nasty bigoted excluder of others.........

It's like trying to watch a lion go vegetarian.....

Why not just require as the. TOS the members to date a certain number of people that are plus sized or trans?

Also, if you are Black can you say you do not want to date Whites?

Bumble is shit because no matter how many women you match with, none of them start the conversation.
In the two times they have in my personal anecdotes it’s been with the line “I don’t like starting so you start”

Dating apps will never replace irl dating just because the users are shit.

Honestly, I'm surprised none of these sites have done that yet, instigated their own version of the NFL's Rooney Rule: You have to interview one minority coaching candidate before you make a hire.... you have to date one trans and one fat person before you get to date the person you really wanted to , it's only "fair".

It would be redundant, most of these services only have trans people and fat people. You never get to date the person you really wanted to, you just settle for the one who isn't morbidly obese and her kids are still young enough that maybe you could love them one day, and she promised no more tattoos after she gets her daughter's name inked in cursive across her chest right under her son's name. Tl;dr: Plenty of fish.

Keep in mind a phobia is an irrational fear, too. There's nothing irrational about being wary of Islam given its behavior when it gets power. There's also nothing the least bit scary about fat people, not unless we're talking about being crushed under them after they trip over their own cankles. But that's not exactly irrational either given the risk of injury.
I challenge anyone not to be fatphobic when sitting on an airliner with an empty middle seat next to you and a hamplanet waddling down the aisle.

Attention new age faggot websites looking to gain an audience with a perceived ""progressive"" (regressive) narrative - A phobia means fear - what retard on the planet is "Fearful" of fatasses? Same with ""Islamophobia"" and other newspeak words used to enabled the decline of the west - Islam is Hated by those who do not want acid in their faces, not because they fear a pedophile worship cult. Same principle for the obese, one is not scared of fatties, one makes fun of fatties poor eating habits. Get it right marxist rags.

You'd think they would automatically see the hypocrisy because it's so ableist. People have legitimate phobias that absolutely destroy their lives. It's an uncontrollable fear caused by a mental health condition. It's not the same as finding some 300+ land mantatee unattractive

The only one I can kind of get on board with is transphobia because I do not want to be alone in a public bathroom with an autogynophile.

Maybe because curvy means you have curves, not lumps of excess fat? Obeasts have stolen the term while at the same time claiming that images of attractive, fit women with what most men would consider curves are unrealistic.

If a man is searching for a curvy body type because that's what he is attracted to, he doesn't want to see a bunch of potential matches that never met an oil drum of cheesecake they didn't like. These hogs are using a word that is not meant to describe their body type then having the nerve to cry foul when men call them out on it and don't want to spend an evening spelunking the caverns of Mt. Saint Adipose.

Even songs like Baby Got Back are not about fatties.

"Itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face"

"Little in the middle but she got much back"

Fatties stop colonising the term curvy.

Bumble is an app where women are supposed to pursue men.

This is, of course, against the grain of inherent human behavior as well as against any culture arising from inherent human behavior (i.e., all of them.)

Therefore it selects for damaged people of both sexes-- Borderline or Histrionic personality disorder women (lolcows) and Supreme Gentleman incel males (lolcows.)

It is, therefore, a lolcow breeding program. Watching it commit suicide is concerning; must we not protect our corn harvest?

Yeah but women can also make profiles on other dating apps and choose men. Otherwise how would the men get anything other than sausages? Everything might as well be Grindr.

But if there's a bunch of fatties and troons on Bumble it's probably a regular laugh riot to browse through.
