These votes seem to be materialising out of thin air to just about beat whatever number Trump gets.

This seems a bit odd. Who voted for him? His approval rating on inagruation day is abysmal. None of this makes sense.

Fuck all will happen with this. A few redditors who got in early will make bank and never have another days peace because they will be watched like a hawk by the powers that be. This situation will never be allowed to happen again (it will literally be fixed over the coming weekend) and anyone who points out what is going on will be labelled as alt right and deplatformed.
The only hope here is that all this makes some more normies sit up and think "maybe there is something a bit off about all of this". That's the only thing that will move the needle. Otherwise it's just "racists on the internet trying to destabilise the economy".

They would have to get around the Right to Financial Privacy Act. The gubbmint needs a court order or a search warrant to see your bank activity. Which I know is not hard for them to get.
If they can't outright confiscate it, they'll make sure you don't get to enjoy your newfound wealth by forcing you to blow it on attorney's fees and fines.

Alternatively or in addition to a trading halt GME will be (((persuaded))) to issue more shares in an effort to fund restructuring into ecommerce, this will allow the shorts to unwind with relative ease.

I expect a return to the old status quo for investing:
1. A minimum requirement of $500 to open investment accounts.
2. No more commission free trading
3. Many retail investing platforms will force you to use some amount of margin, charge you a small fee, maybe annually, maybe monthly, possibly daily, that will eat away at whatever gains you get in the market.

There is in the world of cryptocurrency. Soon after the launch of Etherium there was a huge hack that resulted in a significant percentage of the tokens that existed at the time being transferred to hackers. To solve this, it was resolved that they would basically fork their own blockchain with those transactions undone. The entire concept of a blockchain is supposed to prevent this sort of thing because the majority of miners will stick to a "true" version of the blockchain rather than one with lies inserted, but in this case enough of the community basically decided to support the fork with the lies in it, and that has continued through today. A small splinter community decided for idealistic reasons not to support this, and this fork of the blockchain - the one with no lies in it - came to be called Etherium Classic. The hackers still have those stolen tokens on that blockchain (if they haven't sold them off), but since that fork has less support than the other one, the tokens are worth less.
I don't know enough about real money markets to say if there could be an analogue to this, but seeing as how little actual cash changes hands nowadays, I suppose it's possible that certain people could revert certain transactions and then just see if anyone is going to do anything about it…
