I'm not sure what the pods and bugs theory is, the most I have read about it is on this thread, but I have enough imagination and read enough books to think a few ways that it gives the elite power and money.

If bug protein replaces meat that takes a lot of farmers out of a job and they'll have to move to pods in the city too, bug farming needs little space compared to cattle and the end product will be processed to hell and back giving them more opportunity to pump it full of hormones and whichever vitamins they think suitable.

I'm assuming the pods idea is that they will be rented not owned, when people live in overpopulated spaces with high rent, low wages and no attainable way to escape those conditions you get a population that is more focused on having enough money to eat today than in finding a way to fuck up the government (like is happening right now).

And I just talking out of my ass, you can expand a lot on this shit to make a working plan, the main thing is making the average folk poorer, distracted and demoralized, you don't need bugs and pods for that, but it's one way to make it happen.

It's been postulated that there's an effort to bleed away and hollow out all the sources of meaning in people's lives: family, religion, ideology, so that the end result is a population whose only purpose in life is to chase the next pop culture trend. Hence the seeming effort by Disney to replace Christmas with Star Wars, promoting multiple Marvel movies at regular intervals through the year to overshadow holidays, etc.

The problem with that is that people are naturally "meaning machines." We crave some kind of meaning in life, and consooming isn't a substitute. Mere distractions don't answer the questions we have about why we're here and what we're doing. And when you take away the traditional meanings, people will create new ones come hell or high water. Look how after a year of anger and dashed hopes, people have immediately seized on WSB as a new struggle, once that's uniting right and left.

The intention may be for the future to be one of gelded cattle in pens, but it's looking more like a series of flashmob holy wars.

We live under the boot of the media, government and corporation.

And here comes the heroes who somehow make it and didn't have to beg for it. They made it through making decisions that are completely in opposite to what the society has told them to do...

Whether they win or not, it doesn't matter. We are all worthless anyway. Let's be worthless together.

I mean this is a nihilism at its most fundamental core. And they are right to assume it because whatever the fuck the current society is pedaling, it's all a fucking lie. Racism is a lie.
