I think Ralph thought it was a slam dunk because at the time he thought he had Faith fooled. As long as Faith thought his hacking story was real the story about her giving him permission to tape was enough to satiate the gunt guard. Don't forget that Faith was an 18 year old girl. i was trying to understand why people including ralph think its a slam dunk and i cant, i was thinking maybe ralph sees her saying its not revenge porn as her saying its not so bad and then arguing she only "disliked" it to get revenge on him but even in the messages he leaked its clearly not the case she wanted him desperately to go to the police to get justice, she can prove she cares and cared about the crime well before she even knew it was ethan himself. The problem with Ralph's defense is that Faith didn't say that it wasn't revenge porn, she said "Ralph didn't release revenge porn". Now, this may seem like a slam dunk for Ralph... Except Ralph argued, and convinced Faith as we can see in the leaked messages, that he never released the tape.

Which means what Faith is actually saying, when she says he didn't release revenge porn, is that Ralph didn't release the tape not that the tape wasn't revenge porn.

Yet, given Ralph did release the tape, that this was recorded live, and that Instagram and other sites will have recorded this it's going to be fucking hard for him to avoid the conclusion that he's guilty as sin.

As far as I am concerned, there is no defense for his actions. His actions after the fact I would say are aggravating factors - this dude domestically abused and isolated a young girl who was mentally ill.
