When I was a little younger and a lot more broke I used to carry a silver eagle that was minted back in the 90s in my wallet, I think at its peak it was only worth like 33 bucks but my late grandpa gave it to me so it had enough personal meaning to keep around. It was kind of like my "last resort" fund, I used it many times as collateral when I was literally down to my last dollar or given to someone temporarily as a symbol of trust.

Anyway shit happens and a couple years ago I lost most of my worldly possessions and the coin was not spared.
