Community Tard Baby General (includes brain dead kids) - Fundies and their genetic Fuckups; Parents of corpses in denial

I think the funerals for miscarried embryos and dead baby FB pages might also be an example of that, at least for some people.

Here's a dead baby story that's not as cringy as the other ones I've found, but is related to the Downs discussion. The fetus died in utero pretty early on and had Downs. I guess it shows that even though Downs can be survivable, sometimes it leads to malformations too severe to be compatible with life.

Also yet another one named Bentley

Sounds like it had a clusterfuck of chromosome fuckups. Any medfags have any more info on those trisomies/deletions/whatever?

Obligatory pics of living children with dead/dying baby
I'm desperately curious as to why she assumed it would be her husband who carried a genetic disorder and why he would blame himself. Are her genes perfect?

Yeah I assume chromosome fuckery outside of downs and 13&18 is even more incompatible with life given how I don't really see it mentioned much in this kinda shit. I guess fetuses with it usually auto yeet early on.
It seems in the long-term survivors it's mosaic, and only some cells have it.

Gotta love the classic fundie "all other women who get abortions are evil, but when I was considering an abortion it was out of consideration for my child!"

Even with trisomy 13 and 18 it seems like most of the ones who've survived more than a few years are mosaic.

Found this FB page of a kid that's 3 and supposedly has complete trisomy 13

Like Kayli's mom the mom seems to have a compulsion to emphasize that her kid has Full Trisomy and how those evil doctors were wrong every chance she gets. Ngl I do kinda wonder if some of these moms are being entirely honest, especially since munchie tendencies are pretty common with fundie moms.

At least the kid actually seems aware and isn't a horror show like Kayli.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an undercurrent of “well my child has a mutation in every single cell” even though it’s fucked it is a point of interest which I guess makes them feel extra special.

You’re completely right, it mean that most cellular function can actually occur without it fucking up or just being non-existent. Having a genomic fuckup that bad in every single copy of chromosomes you have in your body is super rare itself.

I find it really bizarre how these mothers write a narrative like there are these doctor super villains hoping every day their child dies or never walks.

Just because a doctor gave a parent known medical facts about a condition doesn’t mean he is now gnashing his teeth in anger that little Nevaeh has survived to two and managed to lean against a sofa.

So many of their posts read like they are sticking it to those big bad doctors. I’m sure the doctors would be really confused by the bizarre psychodrama these mothers have invented and cast them in.

Gwen Hartley has such a bad case of this that she wrote her former doctors bizarre taunting letters every year on the spuds birthdays. I wonder if she continues to write them every year just remind the doctor that even though she’s dead she still proved the dumb meanie man wrong by keeping Claire alive for 16 years.

Also before abortion there was a cottage industry in "baby farming." The baby farmers would just take the child off your hand for a small fee and then slowly starve them to death.

Well, if the mom kept paying the monthly fees they would usually feed them enough to stay alive so they could keep getting paid. Stop paying or start paying late and the kid was going to starve or have an unfortunate “accident” rather quickly.

By the 20th century baby farm operations were small scale and more akin to the foster homes today. Only now the govt pays for strangers to keep the kids instead of the parents.

"The Only Moral Abortion Is My Abortion" - a write up done of some abortion workers experiences with pro-lifers who have abortions. It's unfortunately not terribly recent, but it's a good look into the hypocrisy/ cognitive dissonance that pro lifers have when making their own choice to abort. https://www.prochoiceactionnetwork-canada.org/articles/anti-tales.shtml

Honestly as old as that essay is it's still very relevant today.

I wonder what the A&H crowd would think of it?

Yeah the doctors are probably just telling them what usually happens with these disorders. From what I've seen, full trisomy 13 is usually fatal before or shortly after birth. If she's being honest about her kid having full T13, her kid is a rare exception, not the rule.

Basically the baby had no chance of survival whatsoever with that mix of additions and deletions, the 59 minutes was a miracle of itself. Trisomy 3 and 8 are so rare they don’t even really have a name outside of their medical classification. Most of the time these chromosome fuckups alone lead to retardation, growth delays and physical deformities, but yeah mixed all together that’s just completely incompatible with life.
Put it this way: I was always taught that every other full trisomy besides 13, 18, and 21 are completely incompatible with life.

Mosaics can vary from non-symptomatic to dead so....

A doctor could sit down with the parents and explain things in the most gentle, honest, supportive way. And the parents will still walk away from that conversation feeling persecuted and angery.

I can empathize with the shock and denial that must come with having a profoundly disabled child, but to misdirect that anger towards these well-meaning doctors has always been so bizarre to me.

"How DARE you give my child a grim prognosis??!! You should NEVER put limits on an innocent CHILD! She's a fighter!!" Meanwhile the doctors were trying to state the reality of the situation/prepare you for the worst case scenario and avoid giving you false hope (which is obviously WAY more damaging in the long run...)

Like what else was the doctor supposed to do? Smile and lie through his teeth, and say your perfect child will bEaT tHe OdDs and live to adulthood and beyond, and she'll meet all her milestones...? And surprise, when your child slowly contracts and seizes their way to an early grave, you get to be traumatized because it "came out of nowhere", maybe sue the evil doctor for his poor counsel? (See how the doctor is fucked either way?)

Pediatrics/genetics is an incredible field but crazy parents do come with the territory. I'm sure the seasoned doctors just brush it off. Gwen's disgusting letters probably ended up straight in the trash bin after year 1.

Yeah, I’ve been taught the same. A lot of genetic disorders are beginning to have treatments discovered, but it’s unspoken among the medical community that no ones gonna bother with treating a foetus unless they have a chance at a quality of life.

I read it as, "despite my long-time opposition to abortion, I was in such emotional distress that I considered it. " I don't agree with her stance and you're definitely right that there are hypocritical people who have/encourage abortions while publicly decrying them, but I didn't get that vibe here.

That shape of her poor head is creeping me out.. it must be soft and gappy feel of it.. poor kid.. what braces..what useless shite that mom is ordering..
They are used to stretch contractures probly due to her arms almost constantly posturing due to brain damage.
Is Luna's head caved in at the top or is it the camera angle?

Rather sure it is and the swelling is getting worse you can see how its warping and stretching her eye sockets as well .
