Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Probably very high. They weren't even courts, just closed proceedings, so they didn't even need to deal with all of those pesky hindrances like due process, the right to confront your accusers, and the presumption of innocence.

I forgot, it was displinary proceedings that railroaded the accused to keep Title IX funding rolling in....because there was no other way to show you take campus sexual crimes seriously apparently. I’d say that there’s a chance this bottoms out, but higher education seems like one of those things where there’s a sense of “it survived this, it’ll survive pretty much anything”, along with the many students that go because of family pressure.

The only conceivable way it will happen without a major public backlash is when universities start having to deal with constant litigation by accused students for violating their rights in court. Even if those cases end up in settlements, the constant legal fees could be enough to kill the mood. That, plus it would be very likely that fewer people would be interested in wasting their money to actually ruin their lives, so that could kill their funding.
 
I can absolutely understand the fact that a lot of high-ranking brass are die-hard Never Trumpers who went ridin' with Biden to get rid of the Cheeto-in-Chief. But I wonder how long is it going to take for them to realize just how big a monkey paw they wished on. Because Trump is gone but the drum is still being beaten. If there's an ideological purge, no matter how high you are on the ranks, it really doesn't take much to get your ass kicked out. An accusation is all that's needed, and the people doing the purging are usually all too happy to come up with the accusations themselves.

And remember: much like bitches love cannons, politicians grabbing for power love purges.
