Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Do the mRNA things ever "wear off"? So like if it has the nightmare effect people mentioned above, are we stuck with that until the end of humanity, or will it eventually settle back down as the vaccine effects wane?
The vaccines won't wear off but they will eventually become useless as the virus mutates. The Astra-Zeneca vaccine has already been found to be ineffective against the South African strain, although the company are claiming to have already tweaked it to account for this.

Constant monitoring of the hundreds, if not thousands, of slightly different strains of Covid floating around will be required with regular revisions released and mass booster vaccination campaigns. Using attenuated vaccines for a Coronavirus is impossible, as every time it's been tried it ended up producing the virulent form of the infection. Even worse they often produce antibody dependent enhancement in animal trials leading to a more serious disease pathology, killing the subject. So we're left with the mRNA vaccines, which by their very nature can only be a temporary fix .

TLDR the mRNA vaccines will likely be useless in the long run, as they cannot produce a sterilizing immunity, will not stop spread and bi-annual pandemic outbreaks and natural viral mutation over many years will leave us playing a constant game of wack a mole. Even if developed nations are happy to spend tens of billions annually rolling out constant vaccine revisions poorer nations, which means the vast majority of the human population, will likely give up on the whole thing.

If politicians were actually 'following the science' they'd be letting the public in on this, but of course that would mean having an honest discussion about the risk/benefits and that there are some things science does not know how to solve, a moderately bad novel Coronavirus pandemic being one of them.

From the very beginning of the pandemic we should have been spending all our efforts on developing effective treatment protocols,. We should have taken the opportunity to deal with the horrendous incidence of chronic lifestyle related disease, particularly obesity, which is the real reason tens of thousands of people are dying from what is a bad chest cold. Instead we've chased a pipe dream.

Bailing out airlines won't do shit because people won't fly anymore.

I put up with having every square inch of my nubile young body being molested as part of post-9/11 "security" - I'll put up with a rapid test and wearing a faggot face condom if it means I can go see the places I want to see. The only Great Reset I'm hoping for is a Great Reset in the tourism industry, in which 800 lb Amerifats and screaming chink insect people stay the fuck home and let the rest of us enjoy the world.

Bailing out airlines won't do shit because people won't fly anymore. Might have said this earlier in the thread, but what appeal is there to flying anymore, especially if you have to be poke and prodded while wearing a mask for the entirety of the flight? If airlines want to save themselves, they need to do it themselves. Here's what I'd do:
  • Offer peanuts
  • Extra leg room in economy class
  • Allow smoking and drinking on flights again.
  • You don't have to wear a mask if you don't want to.
The first airline to do that will be making bank.
I'd rather fly Spirit Airlines with a cuck mask than fly on a plane with smokers. Who the hell wants to smell that shit and have people play with open flames? Lung Cancer Air would go broke fast because nobody wants to put up with smokers in a confined space.

Snip but good stuff, worth a read.

I've got no argument against anything you've said here, but if you'll pardon my :optimistic:, I do have a theory as to why an endless cycle of lockdowns and vaccines and "new normal" might not be the end result here:

The key difference being, that by the time the vaccine wears off and everybody starts catching the virus again, there's a chance that it will no longer be in the news cycle.

We all know by now that at least some, if not all, of the current state of things comes from media propaganda and politicians, not from what's actually a mild virus to all but the very unhealthy. And yeah, there's a million theories as to why, from the start of a new world order to simple incompetence. But indulge me for a moment in using Hanlon's Razor to cut things down to politicians getting swept up in the initial panic and cries to Do Something, then digging in their heels and plugging their ears when the evidence points towards that Something having been a huuuuuge mistake.

So, they know by now they're dealing with a cold-and-flu-tier illness that's going to be around forever, being a pain in the ass to healthy people and one of a hundred thousand things that kill the old and sick, but sunk costs and pride prevents them from actually admitting a mistake. They won their election, and now they need a tidy end to this little chapter of history before said hard-won kingdom gets torn down by the riots of citizens who have had enough. From that perspective, the best bet narrative is to say "Biden saved the world from Covid with the power of vaccines! We did it everybody! Hooray!" and have their trumpets and fanfares and They Lived Happily Ever After, while sweeping the fact that those vaccines only last for a few months conveniently under the rug. By November 2022 or whenever this shit becomes completely ineffective again, everyone will have moved on to the next big manufactured media crisis and Covid will be old, boring hat. Just like all the other bullshit that dominated the news cycle in years past, that we barely remember today.

Of course, all of this becomes moot if this is actually the desired result of a Great World Reset or what have you. But there's only so much depression and doomposting one can take, and I hadn't seen anyone else bring up this possibility before, so I thought I'd offer a bit of realistic, but still present, hope.

Airborne insta-murder South African mutation...having no effect in South Africa. (archive)

Deaths ascribed to the virus have tumbled from an average of 1,600 a day to 261 on Friday. At the height of the second wave in mid-January, 19 per cent of tests were positive; last week that was down to 10.3 per cent. And many of the hospitals, overwhelmed in early January, have spare beds again — a month ago my local hospital had 61 Covid-related patients; by this weekend it had 22. [...] But the key question remains: if the variant is as infectious as Matt Hancock and the UK press seem to believe, why has it not devastated the South African population before a single vaccination has even taken place?
Scientists have been puzzling over that for weeks, but Professor Alex van den Heever, of the Wits School of Governance, proffers the most plausible theory yet: the virus has already done its job. Most South Africans, he says, may have had it and developed antibodies. Officially, there have been 1.5 million cases in South Africa over the past year. Van den Heever, on the basis of exhaustive studies and a large body of evidence, reckons the true figure is at least six million and possibly as many as nine million.

I dunno how many times you can recycle the same fucking plot until people get bored of it.

Please forgive me for potentially derailing the ongoing discussion, but out of boredom, I decided to revisit some of the older Coronavirus threads made around this time last year.
I remember videos being posted of Chinese people spazzing out on the streets and in random hallways, hospitals with walls basically made of paper mache, etc. Is this still going on? It seems like very few people in China give a fuck about COVID, and Chinese New Year is going to be in full swing.

Apparently Cuomo bumped indoor dining to Friday instead of Valentine's Day. I guess it's been dawning on him the feds aren't giving New York more pitybux, plus the restaurants were suing. lol.

Meanwhile in Commifornia:

So, is she saying The Weekend should be cancelled because he wasn't wearing a mask, either ... I'm cool with that. He deserves it after that lame ass half time show.

So....what's the fucking point of being vaccinated then?

If I'm sacrificing my right to bodily privacy so you can jab me with a mystery substance, I better at least be getting something out of it.

Yeah no, fuck off.

This vaccine I think is going to be huge fuel for the anti-vaxx community, it was rushed, there have been deaths surrounding people that have taken it and to top it off you have normal publications saying "Eh even if you get it you still need to wear a mask and can't visit elderly or sick loved ones".

This entire shit show and how these governments have failed so hard is going to have terrible consequences down the line, whether it's anti-vax promotion or completely negating civil rights and liberties or the psychological trauma many have suffered especially young kids. But hey at least I get money for sitting at home so I can consooooooom in safety!

I'll never understand faggot governments placing a curfew.
What, does the corona only come out at a certain time?

Same reason the virus avoided infecting people that were rioting with Antifa and BLM most likely.

I still remember when the CDC and WHO insisted masks didn't work, except maybe n95s, and all my friends and family agreed.

They forgot that, like everything else, and happily comply with mask mandates despite lack of real conclusive evidence that they prevent anything.

At this point I don't know why I bother.

Are asymptomatic spreaders the "dark matter" of CDC models? Something added to make the equations work as they expect them to work? My understanding of "dark matter" is that astrophysicists have equations on how the universe expands (or something like this), and the math doesn't match what they've observed, so they came up with "dark matter" as a way to have the equations match their observations ("there's some matter out there, somewhere, that we can't see or detect, which makes our equations match the results we see"). I probably butchered that explanation a bit because as a layman I know nothing of this.

Similarly, "the mask mandates, CDC guidelines, etc, must surely work, therefore it must be asymptomatic spreaders and people not correctly masking, which makes our equations match the results we see"

Apparently there is no COVID in China except for a few small outbreaks here and there, which they are responding to with the same draconian lockdowns that doomers in the West salivate over. But the early days of the outbreak are long gone.

Something to consider is that all of this people dying in the streets and freaking out didn't seem to happen anywhere else that was hit by COVID early on. Could have been CCP propaganda. Could have been mass hysteria. Could have been the OG COVID that hadn't yet mutated enough. My money's on a mix of the first two, and maybe a pinch of the third.
