This whole thing was an amazing clown show. The Democrats won a vote to call new witnesses after they'd rested their case, and then... didn't call anyone. Which I find most curious. Did something go wrong for them?

Final vote was 57 to convict, 43 not guilty. On the GOP side, Toomey, Romney, Sasse, Murkowski, Collins, Cassidy, and Burr voted to convict, along with all the Democrats. That's pretty much what I expected. With any luck those Senators can look forward to primary challenges in their home states.

This is one of those precedents that the Dems should have never pushed. They may yet regret doing so -- we'll see.

In the meantime, can't wait to see the angry bitching from the usual suspects.

I doubt Collins was going to stick around another term anyway considering her age. She would be 74 if she was going to serve another term.

I think the plan is... well, I can't be fucked calculating the actual numbers now, but call it the next 1 year, 11 months, 2 weeks. Basically, 2 years and 1 day from the day he took power. That way President Harris can go for the 10-year hat trick.

Why they're hitching their cart to someone who manages to be compared unfavorably to Hillary in terms of sliminess and unlikeability is completely beyond me. I guess the pool of politically expedient black women in politics, as opposed to Kamala's throat, just isn't that deep.
