General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Minor update on Youtube face doxxer drama. You know that channel that literally went up Yesterday, hosting face reveal videos? Its already been copy right struck to freaking oblivion. Its literally been taken down a day after creation. This has to be a White Knight; Cover and the vtubers wouldn't move that fast. And it seems to be one single motherfucker doing it, some guy calling himself "Perry Manoharan", as seen with this video takedown message. This guy's dedicated, I'll give him that. It seems that whoever this dude is, he's made it his personal mission to go after every face reveal channel in existence.

Reddit as a whole is too stupid to learn by negative example. It's just faster to farm karma with terrible template memes. I don't watch Meme Review anymore, I wrote off the unfunny memes as Coco making the show more for Japanese to have a window into Reddit than to showcase anything uniquely humorous.
Why the hell are you watching it for the memes, the enjoyment comes from Coco and her guest's abject confusion

I watch it for the total confusion of the guests.

Thats something I would put into the common knowledge category...

Last time I tried it, it was still hard to watch so I stopped coming back. I'll try again tho if you two swear by it.

I'm going to start adding "This post is a joke" disclaimers for you dense motherfuckers.
Actually you made me realize something, why they CAN do stuff like this but Karaokes get privated to oblivion, do they got the permits for that remix or they have to get permits in a base to base song? japanese copyright is hard

It is something I have been observing.

Rewatched a few with subs, and actually quite interesting to observe.

And it is funny that the japanese people that picked up on how to make memes understand it better than many of the people on reddit.

Mio's blessed wheezing was a highlight of that meme review, even more than the memes themeselves. The memes themselves suck, but it's also Reddit, and Coco has to translate them from english to japanese and explain the meaning, so she can't use anything too complex, unless she's collabing with any of the EN or ID girls.

Based. It's funny to see that Poka guy seething and coping in his Twitter like his whole life depends on reposting roommate vids from /jp/ and Japanese imageboards. Hopefully this will discourage others from trying to post doxx on YouTube.

I also would like to know why karaoke covers are treated like "official" song interpretations.

To create remix in Japan you need some permits of the base song first "IF" the original creator did that violation. If original creator tell the other one to use any of their base song for free to use in anywhere just put the credit on it, you can free to use it but ofc put the credit, took example like HoloBass music. Especially in karaoke stream, it's the song not from Indie but from company like SME and Universal, they need permits to sing it especially for Hololive since they company too. Moona actually sing love live song but acapella to escape the copyright strike and privated reason. So yeah, it's very hard and difficult.

I actually remember about Mio Idol Master walking song. Because the amount people use it without ask permits, he doesn't want to create like that again, ever.

Copyright covers the underlying work, not just exact reproductions of a performance. Public performances of a song are permitted, but affixing said performance in a physical medium (for more than the period of time needed to transmit the performance) is not, hence why karaoke streams can get away with using copyrighted material as long as they don't archive.

I doubt I will ever see the best musical ever pop up on a watchalong. That being Repo! The Genetic Opera. Well, I mean that or Rocky Horror.
I am so glad people know about Repo.

All it ever takes is someone being talented/skilled enough and pissed off enough to bring down empires. I’m still waiting for the guy that starts Chinese head hunting and sending their asses to the camps through doxxing.

That lovely "VtuberCringe" twitter account has been keeping tabs on him. Provided some fun screenshots of the nutjob.

Speaking of that Twitter account, the guy is surprisingly insightful, and is definitely worth a follow if you guys muck around on Twitter. He actually had this well written memo-thing for pre-debut Chuubas to give them some actual advice.

Expectations for VTubers Don't Come from Nowhere #VTuber #ENVTuber
A recent discussion sweeping the Western VTuber community involves people's expectations of new and aspiring VTubers and how expectations for them to do well have been set astronomically high leading to some VTuber fans ridiculing them for their lack of diligence and commitment to get further with their careers/hobbies.

Expectations towards new creators entering a pre-established fandom and wanting to contribute to it have always been a part of every hobbyist community. The actual expectations for fledgling VTubers in the West have been set so high due to the turbulent and rapidly-advancing, both in technological and innovation sense, aspect of VTubing. In just a few years, VTubers have made leaps and bounds in terms of what you can do with a virtual persona.

At this point, "VTubing" already has a long (at least in Internet terms) history pioneered by some amazing Japanese talents that are still active and well-known today.

During years that Japanese VTubers were "making their bones" and establishing their brand identities, they tested a lot of elements they could introduce to video production, streaming, or otherwise creating interesting content for their audiences.

What is important to know is that before the two biggest Virtual YouTuber agencies Hololive and Nijisanji even existed there were already independent Japanese YouTubers or Nico Nico Douga users who uploaded hobbyist videos to these two respective platforms using a virtual avatar to enhance the experience for their audiences.

Another thing to note that is even more crucial to the context of this discussion is that content always came first for most of these creators and that is how they were first discovered and reached notability. They let their work speak for itself and any social media presence was secondary to their efforts supplementing their reach to wider audiences.

Upon seeing the success of the Japanese, Western fans were enamored and captivated by this new frontier in interactive entertainment and quickly started to pick up on parts of specific VTubers' performances that were attractive and started to search out for similar elements in other creators' work.

Western fans already familiar with prior VTubers know exactly what they want because it has worked so well for Japanese creators all of these years contributing to their popularity. What isn't broken doesn't need fixing.

Does all of this mean that "pre-debut" and "debut TBA" VTubers in the English-speaking community should be shamed for taking too long before starting any kind of content production? Absolutely not. Every person's circumstances are dramatically different and in a lot of cases there are parts of their daily lives that are working actively against a VTuber preventing them from advancing their goals.

These new creators should still consider what they want to be known for online and just talking about something is not the same as actually doing it. See what attracts people to you, where your fans come from, and see how you can capitalize on it.

Don't be so hasty to dismiss critics. Filter out your haters and see who is actually willing to support your growth.

Respect history, take lessons from it and advance yourselves using the experience others had in the past. Kizuna Ai crawled so that Hololive and Nijsanji could walk. You can break out into a sprint on the back of your Virtual YouTuber senpais as long as you're willing to learn.

Lastly, remember that ultimately people follow Virtual Entertainers for their personalities and the ability to attract people to a specific experience. You can have all the financial means in the world but true charisma that brings people together is not something that many people possess.

What is it with twitter podpeople and their sense of self-importance. Everyone either doubles down on their stupid shit or, rarely, provides what amounts to a surrendering declaration. Someone should tell these things irl that nobody gives a shit in any way

Youtube is not designed to help you make content for the masses. It is designed to contain your content and keep you from competing with the media cartel that keeps it on life support despite operating on a huge financial loss every year.

Just when I didn’t think copyright law could get more idiotic and disgusting, they found a way.

fuck Disney with all the rakes in the world.

Got a quick question about something i have seen meantioned multiple times on /vt/ and other places (among others a normal discord convo so this fact (?) is probably spreading quite a bit) its in regard to the Mel Sexual harassment stuff that happened quite a while ago.

I know that what is confirmed to have happened is that Mel was sexually harrassed by her manager, but the claim that i am more intrested in is that
1. She was actually assaulted / raped (probably not the latter, seems like that would be a bit much for Cover to cover up)

2. That cover didnt give her any legal help in the court shit to get a restraining order or whatever on the guy.

Sorry if thats a stupid question, tried searching through the posts here bit didnt find anything in that regard, so thought i would just ask.

Also idk what exactly the "privacy mindset" here for this topic is, so if i should edit this to spoiler or whatever just say it.
