Oh shit I forgot about another one. Not really sure if I should go into too much detail here. I mentioned this a bit in the transabled thread but...
There's a researcher. Don't really want to give out his name, but he's not one of the neurologist researchers on the condition that caused "transabled" people. Nooo, he's a a humanities guy. It's a little weird since the guy is actually quite a bit older so I was really surprised to see his very SJW aligning opinions. Anyways, you know all those articles with the transabled movement? Yeah. He's the guy who's talking in all of those.
I contacted him because there's not a lot of research going on in North America involving this stuff and I want to participate in research. I contacted him not really knowing what to expect. He responded and told me that he wanted to do a recorded skype interview with me. I agreed, he also offered to watch me for 5 days on my habits. I found that really weird unless he was going to install a camera or something but I offered an opportunity where I would be available in public. However, after reading the interview questions I've decided to redact that part of the study.
First, in only one of the questions does he ever refer to the disorder by its proper name (BIID) but he always calls it "Transabled". I hated this term ever since I heard of it, so I found it really odd that a professional would use it in his survey questions. Like bro, it's a disorder. The only question that used the name "body integrity identity disorder" was worded in a way that may encourage people to view it as negative. Second, he brought up what I think about the relationship between transgender and "transabled" people are... and also transethnic people.
I couldn't take it seriously anymore. I was like, oh man, seriously? TransETHNIC? Holy shit dude, you're a freaking researcher at a university but you used the term transethnic, what the holy mother of god is this? Is this tumblr? Is this tumblr materializing into a person?
I'm supposed to be interviewed by this guy soon and I'm not really sure how to feel. It's funny because I seriously saw these questions like 4 days before the whole Rachel Dolezal thing, which just gets me every time, holy shit. I'll probably tell him my honest feelings. Should I record it myself and share with you afterwards?
I mean I'll be frank, most of the interview questions are okay. So he's not 100% cringe. He's honestly really fucking shit up though in my opinion though, and I almost feel like he's taking advantage of some very vulnerable people who really need some form of treatment to push a more radical liberal way that we see these kinds of disorders.
I've seen the stuff he's been doing on news outlets about this stuff. I feel disgusted by him encouraging it blindly with nothing but really feels honestly because this whole stupid transabled movement is really fucking up shit for the people who haven't reached that point yet. The people who are asking for that shit are definitely people who are suffering but they've reached such an advanced point in their condition that they can't handle it. While it may be more ethical to offer operations to these individuals as an absolute last resort simply on merit that they may accidentally kill themselves in the process of self harm, you should NOT be encouraging people who may be able to deal with it to "transition" with this kind of shit, it's too fucking risky. I do think we need some more reporting so the public can become more educated, but this is not the way that you do it.
tl;dr I signed up to participate in a research study where they talked about transethic people, I kekled, 4 days later we get miss TransRachel over here
