Feel free to put that paragraph I wrote up here, Ashley. There's absolutely nothing in it that I'd be ashamed of. I'm going to see if I can find a copy, maybe I'll put it up myself.

At any rate, I'm glad I could bring some joy to a morbidly obese agoraphobic rageoholic hick and her closeted, dull-normal, underachieving husband. The world needs more laughter.

Man I signed up to watch a man completely destroy his life through a comical serious of self imposed events not what ever this retarded slap fight is.

It's so bad it's proving the $10 SA price point right.
Lowtax was way ahead of the game with the ten bux charge. He just never continued with making it continue to work. It’s kinda amazing if you do some thunking, he had it nailed and then just...: fucked off, and now he’s broke as fuck.

Lowtax could have milked those lolcows more with monthly subscriptions. Think "proto-Patreon," except your recurring membership gives you shitposting privileges. Hell, he could have charged people big bux to be IKs for a day or a month and lob a limited number of 3-hr or 6-hr probes at people. But finding new and lulzworthy ways to bleed goons dry was never something you could expect from someone as unmotivated as the taxman.

You also have to remember that the $10 was born out of Lowtax lanyness. Basically he got tired of banning this one dude who kept posting triangles or some shit and threw up a fee.

This actually really helped during a time when forums were absolute trash of l33t speak and low effort shit posting and actually fostered a community with standards.

Instead of paying your staff make them pay you, like some sort of cam whore. Imagine, mod status for varying amounts, low for the small forums, could possibly extract 500 or more a month for GBS or one of the politics forums. auction off one time ban tokens, you could make so much money from that place it makes me mad.

Oh boy, he's doing a stream the evening of Valentine's Day!

About exactly a year ago, before Richard's business self-immolated and this thread grew by hundreds of pages in the course of a single month, Logan Day was in his streamchats saying shit like this:

Also, almost exactly a year ago (February 11th), Richard did this on his stream:

In response, all the goons were "hehe funi" and did photoshops of it; most of the community (save for the trannies) was still running apologetics for Richard and erasing all links to offsite discussion of Richard's wrongdoings.

How times change. I hope Richard has a lovely day.

e: Looks to be settling into his new home nicely.

Chat discusses the Gaming Garbage discord. Apparently it's a wasteland with a GDN authorization bot scraping any wrongthink that occurs so people can be banned from every goon-run server at once if they step out of line.

The fans are also very up to date with the trends.

Richard, meanwhile, is playing poor to mediocre Babby's First Game projects and picking up on some random sound effect or element or another of it and screaming it all night while complaining that the games he's playing are bad. About par for the course. I expect that the reason people troll him on stream so often is because that's the only way to get any entertainment from this shit.

Funny how a man who shit on streamers and 'tubers does literally nothing new or unique when he gives it a go.

Little off-topic but Rich looks a lot to me like Burnie Burns from Rooster Teeth fame, only if everything went horribly, horribly wrong.

How much money does everyone think Lowtax could have made off the subscription service had he not bungled it so badly? Is seven figures out of the question? Is somewhere in the six figure range more accurate?

This man, at one point in history, held the untapped potential of 1) games streaming and 2)let's plays. With savvy maneuvering he could have been larger than twitch and whatever agdq used to be.
But because he desperately sought FYADs acknowledgment, decided to toss the whole lot into ridicule, directly and through that grand ole' subforum Helldump. Basically you aren't born a retard, but your choices turn you into one.

In the six figures for sure. I'd be willing to bet that if he had instituted a $2.99/month fee back in, say, 2010 or 2012, he would have gotten at least 5000 people to pay (hell, I easily got $2.99 worth of entertainment out of SA every month, I would have paid that!). That would be at least $15,000/month, minus $1500 (or so) for hosting costs, leaving $13,500 times 12 months = $162,000 gross/year... and that could have been the floor. (And that doesn't include merchandise, avatars, etc.) He might have had twice as many people pay monthly, not to mention higher tiers like Platinum at $3.99/month, or even a Supporter tier at $9.99/month or Gooftroop tier at $19.99/month!

Of course, something like this would never have happened, because of Lowtax's laziness, lack of ambition, etc.

I'm not sure about the subscription thing. I know myself and a lot of other goons would have left for an offsite instead of subscribing, but things were different then. Now it's so normal to pay monthly fees for online services no one would think twice.

He could have fixed archives and then charged a monthly archives fee, and a monthly platinum fee.

Nah the monthly subscription should have been something like $5 got you two avatar changes (basically making it half price), $10 got you two other people avatar changes, with ramping up stuff like $100 a month got you the ability to prob some one for 6 hours or something as a ondemand "Fuck you". Get the paypigs hooked but keep it low enough that people would sign up and forget about it or justify it as a "great value".
