There is some truth to the idea that fruit sugar is less bad for diabetes.
Different kinds of sugars act different in the body. Fruit sugar is also known as fructose, a monosacharide molecule, which spikes your blood sugar far less than glucose does.
Sucrose, table sugar, for example, is made up of 2 molecules - 1 fructose and 1 glucose, which is why sucrose is in the middle when it comes to spiking blood sugar

But when I think about it, most fruits do have glucose aswel as fructose so while it's true that fruit sugar is better for you, fruits still have glucose aswel
I think she's mixing up 2 concepts here: Fruit sugar as in, the sugar in fruit (which is both fructose and glucose) AND fructose, which is also known as fruitsugar.
Fructose/fruitsugar is great for diabetes patients, but despite the name, fructose/fruitsugar isn't the only sugar in fruit
