It's hilarious that he doesn't have a go-to outline of talking points about his primary area of expertise. Most advocates I know for any political issue have a boilerplate speech ready to go at a moment's notice. (Plus rehearsed soundbites for media or Q&As.) They live for opportunities like this.

Not everyone can handle the pressure of testifying under a spotlight or whatever. But an elite athlete and professional poker player and tenured professor? How should this be hard for him?

If any more proof was needed that Rhys is neither an expert nor capable of actual debate here it is. He just won't go into anything if there is the chance it won't go his way, that's why he switched to women's sport (and kept looking to find the most advantage for himself), that's why he's constantly off work "sick" (colleagues would demolish his shit "debate" techniques) and that's why he only hangs out with bottom of the barrel troons. It's the sad life of an egotistical coward.

My impression of her is that she is a failed academic. She seems to be one white girl wine night away from a full mental breakdown. She latched on to the troon thing to make herself relevant and to appear as if her setbacks are related to her advocacy rather than the fact that she basically sucks and is an emotional basket case.

He knows that if he uses his usual arguments from the Twitter echo chamber, he’ll make an ass of himself. He reads this thread, so he knows how weak his arguments are, and he’s just not bright enough to come up with counterpoints. Best to retreat back behind the safety of a block button.

She is a PhD student, but her progress keeps getting delayed due to one crisis or another.

No not officially yet but he hasn't worked in over a year, the book he was supposed to write on sabbatical never happened, he's had two really bad reviews and the college is advertising for his replacement. But like you said it's a drawn out process. His sick leave ends in April and he's not scheduled to do anything at CofC this summer. He doesn't want to be there and they don't want him. He's done.

The S.C. bill is to ban gender transition procedures on children, nothing to do with tranny athletes in specific.

Rhys is a coward. He would be in a hostile environment. The House of Representatives, the Senate, and the State House are all under the control of Republicans in South Carolina. So if this event even happened, and with Rhys's rich fantasy life, we can't be sure of that, he would have been called by the Democrats.

In these hearings, generally, both parties call witnesses, and treat their own witnesses well, while someone like Rhys would be beaten to a pulp by the other side, with hostile questions and insults disguised as questions. He isn't the kind of luminary who both sides treat with respect.

No it's not, it's the specific challenge to not allow trans identified boys to compete with girls in schools and colleges.

It's the one Selina Seule is testifying at, there's a twitter user called SaveWomensSport who has also testified and has been live tweeting all afternoon. Last tweet was about 2 hours ago.


This is precisely what Rhys claims his activism is all about. It's related to the subject of all his recent papers, it's right on his doorstep and even relates to a student from his own college.

This should be his moment of glory, his chance to stand up, make his point, blow away all the arguments against what he believes in, and affect state legislature, and he's not there. Slow handclap.
