Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

Apparently Jim is actually credited with coining the term "chungus".

I remember that term being used way before Jim used it, that's kinda fucky. Chungus used to be just one of those nonsense cutesy descriptor words people would throw into shit online like around a decade or so back, and the fat bugs memes that eventually experienced a resurgance as "big chungus" a few years back stem from people combining the 2 and tainting both forever as a singular tulpa-god-like cryptid level entity known by that name that seems to just literally drive people insane at the sight of it. Maybe I'm from an alternate timeline but I'm pretty fucking sure Jim didn't make the word "chungus" and this is a case of misattributed origins like how reddit got big partly for claiming it was responsible for youtube and chan memes in it's ads and somehow continues to be a prime source of meme credit thievery to this fucking day.

I just did a quick look into it. I can attempt to look deeper, if you'd like. See if I can find an alternative source.

Edit: Update time

Apparently it's a Hebrew name that means "Child of God". So... I guess this makes Jimbo anti-semetic.

Here is a crazy idea. How about we gather all the pre-op trannies in USA, put them on a plane and send them to Thailand where they can get the surgery on the cheap. Thailand is renowned for its trannies long before the trooning fad. Certainly cheaper than using USA healthcare. The doctors are well skilled in Thailand. They have been doing it for years. Some Thai trannies look like supermodels.

That is very unlikely. TB for all its (many) faults had self-esteem and a drive for self-improvement. Jim never went that far: his debasement in his litle skits and in his "wrestling" gimmick is proof enough.
Dont forget a spine

It was pretty baffling when TB announced that Genna was to going to inherit the channel and the podcast after he passed. I knew immediately it wasn't going to work because of how often TB would tard wrangle Jesse and Dodgsr, but I respected it at the time because it was pretty clear he wasn't going to survive. Genna did at least try, but the idea of a SO taking over something as personal as a YouTube channel is an extremely optimistic plan. I don't extactly blame her for not wanting to continue in her late husband's shadow, but if she did dump her kid at Grandma's house, that's pretty fucked up.
I remember watching cooptional way back in the day. Is dodger still insuferable or did she get better as the show went on?
They could have just dragged Crendor and Sam into it, run the same format and had a solid show. Apparently it was TB's wish that Genna should take over the show and run it how she wants after he was gone even though she thought it should end with him (I can't find the source at the moment, sorry).
Well the problem is getting one of them in to the roll of a TB/Opie. Basicly playing the straight man guiding the ship. Keeping track of topics and trampling the jokes when they get to crazy. Im sure a crendor-sam-Dodger-Jesse podcast could have gone on a couple of episodes but for more then 10?
2010-2020: Jim makes the same video over and over again repeating the exact same talking points about loot boxes and microtransactions
2021: Jim makes the same video over and over again repeating the exact same talking points about loot boxes and microtransactions while wearing a wig
Here we have a great market thats basicly untapped in any real way. I wanna hear somebody ramble about vidya. Who isnt a complete tool. Or constantly yammering on and on about the same 4 talking points, poltics or is a shill. Now since tb died i have only found a guy that i can listen to for more then 10 minutes and thats mandaloregaming.

I think i'm having a miniature existential crisis over the possibility of similar words like wumpus and grumpus having ancient hebrew meanings I'm unaware of now.

Worth A Buy is pretty good in that respect, he's basically Jim Sterling but without the cringe

Same on Know Your Meme.

Could be the Mandella Effect, but I'm sure I heard the word being used when I was growing up.
Same. But it's fine, I'm perfectly willing to give this one to Jimbo.

His only lasting (so far) contribution to the public discourse being a derogatory term that has evolved in such a way that it can perfectly describe him is just too sweet a brick of poetic justice to the face. I can't refuse him that.

It's entirely possible it was some random slang but Jim was just the first one to give it prominence online; I heard it from him first but I also remember growing up we had all sorts of dumb words just like it.

Knowyourmeme is absolute hot garbage as I remember it being. Big Chungus' resurgance was late 2018 and the fucking sidebar thing says that but everything in the about page says 2019. This is absolutely a fucking case of misattributed shit now, no doubt in my fucking mind. People with authority still view Knowyourmeme as a decent historical resource so I wouldn't be surprised if Jim or one of his fans put that claim in there. There's other cases of this, like how they credit people refereincing Leo Luster from the DKC tv show to some podcast that brought it up once when People online were spamming each other with it for like a year or 2 beforehand on imageboards, youtube, and in fps voicechats. The only reason i know about that one is because years ago someone I knew was like "what's this dogshit lmao" and showed me it like a good while after everyone had stopped spamming DK shit online. God, Tropical freeze and the related DK shit was 7 years ago now and it doesn't feel like that much time has passed at all. Everythings just the same save for the hyperpolticized shit being even more grating and braindead than before. Case in point Jim's still fat.

Guys, I need some guesses on to how to set my clock for when some Zoomer girl on Twitter inevitably leaks DMs from Jim Stephanie trying to Uwu Lesbian groom her.
Sure but I bet it will be a twinky-ish but straight guy. Or a gay guy who just doesn't wanna hit that cause, well, even Mx Sterling doesn't.

It'll be a guy is what I'm saying. I'm also saying he will look like James Charles.

It's possible, but it sounds like it could be a British thing. There's lots of local slang and insults, and chungus sounds like one of them.

I think he coined the term "asset flip".

I'm not sure if Jim was one of the people who raged at the term "walking simulator" and "ludonarrative dissonance". I think he was, but I don't remember. Those terms have stuck around longer than anything Jim has coined.
To be fair, basically every time I hear the term "ludonarrative dissonance" it's coming from the mouth of someone I would have crammed into a locker in high school.
