Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

Ah, the "everyone's fault but my own" defense. Gotta love that old chestnut.
Actually, she makes a good point.

If all the fatties were citizens of North Korea where they wouldn't be subjected to factory farming, capitalism, adequate and ready food distribution, etc, they wouldn't be fat anymore. Because they wouldn't be capable of getting fat on the low stipend of resources they'd be allotted due to their useless asses not being adequate producers for the state.

I agree that it is an issue, what I take issue with is it being used as a smokescreen. Yes, talk about these things, but dont use it to push aside the fact that you have reaped the benefits of easy food access to blow yourself up to an unhealthy size.

Here’s a gem I found on my Twitter dashboard.

Yea fuck doctors (Apparently this girl can afford to goto multiple doctors) for trying to help you.
The doctors did nothing wrong, and suggesting they did this because they were "fatphobic" is retarded. There are limited healthcare resources, and if we gave every fatty who comes in complaining about back pain all the MRIs and tests and crap they did, healthcare costs would be astronomical. The doctor is supposed to assess the patient's symptoms, figure out the most probable causes, and fix those. The doctor saw the landwhale and knew that her fatness was most likely the cause. He didn't want to waste a specialists time until the fatty lost the weight, and if there's STILL something wrong, he would refer her to the specialist, get the tests, etc.

A bit of a PL but even when I had chronic headaches I didn't get any of those fancy tests done until 3 years of struggling with it, and then they finally figured out what was wrong. Boo hoo. Those things are majorly expensive, and doctors have to make hard decisions all the time.

This exactly, any doctor worth their salt will, if your overweight to obese, suggest weight loss first and foremost because like it’s discussed over and over again the root cause of a lot of these fatties problems is that extra weight their carrying around doing a number on the bodily systems and the hormones fat excretes just further fucks shit up.

I’m sure there’s a few of us in this thread that have similar stories of waiting a while to be diagnosed with shit because yeah shits expensive, unless you have very unusual symptoms or a doctor that will bend to your every whim, they’ll exhaust all routes until they absolutely have to roll out the more expensive scans and testing. It isn’t fatphobia it’s the literal definition of medical deduction, work from the bottom to the top.

Absolutely. It's infuriating how these fatties literally want preferential treatment from doctors for their fatness. We don't live in a utopia where money grows on trees and everyone can get the cutting edge medical technology to treat disease. There are so many people who die each year because they can't afford the surgeries, tests, or medications they need. So when a fatty's like "WAHH HE DIDN'T ORDER THE CT SCAN FOR MY FIBROMYALGIA!!" it makes me MATI.

If she really thinks malpractice occured, she could sue. But she doesn't, and whines on reddit, because she knows she can get asspats there and that lawsuit would be thrown out before it ever reaches a judge's table.

They want doctors to believe their HAES doctrine. They want doctors to not tell them to lose weight. The contempt for medical professionals in fat positivity circles is astounding. They seriously think they know better than those who have gone to medical school and devoted their life to medicine. It's hubris.

With the covid vaccine, now they're saying obesity isn't a risk factor, but "medical fatphobia" is. The amount of cognitive dissonance, reality denying, and delusions are just incredible. It's like a cult.

It IS a cult. It ticks all the boxes of a cult:

They welcome new members with lovebombing and total acceptance, encouraging them to cut off contacts with family members and friends who don’t agree with the group’s doctrine, proposing irrational beliefs that must be believed by followers, etc.

Here are ten actual signs of a cult, as listed by cult researchers (link to source at bottom, though you can google any “signs of a cult” and these pop up in all lists, over and over):

1. The leader is the ultimate authority.

You can’t doubt the social media trend leaders of HAES/BOPO/FA or whatever you want to call it. Top proponents have tonnes of social media followers who will dogpile and attack anyone who posts even somewhat critically of them. If you’re a follower and express dislike or doubt of them, you’re racist/sexist/ableist, etc.

2. The group suppresses skepticism.

Duh. Cults suppress bringing in outside facts that don’t explicitly support their views. HAES supporters tell you to ignore science, ignore doctors, ignore all professionals who tell you that being obese is unhealthy. Anyone trying to bring in an article or paper like this is branded a hater and booted out. Any doctor trying to tell them to lose weight is branded fatphobic and they shop around for another doctor. If your family tries to speak to you about your weight, shut them down, don’t listen, point out that they’ve been brainwashed by society, cut them off for being “toxic.”

Kelly Lenza lost her fucking cool at a package of chocolate that was labeled “nutritious” because it had added vitamins and minerals and it reminded Kelly too much of people being healthy.

3. The group delegitimizes former members.

Everyone loved Lizzo and Adele, until they lost weight. Outright worship turned to angry condemnation. Even ordinary people are no exception...if you lose weight to get healthy, gtfo. Tess Holliday unfollowed a fan who had to lose weight to cure an illness. You are dead to the movement and a bad person if you choose to intentionally try to lose weight.

If you gain SO much weight that you’re no longer useful as an example of healthy FA living, you are pushed out of sight (Ragen Chastain’s partner Julianne used to be in all her social media and a voice in the FA movement, but got so massive that she became immobile and hooked to oxygen 24/7. She was quickly wheeled out of the spotlight and never shown again.)

4. The group is paranoid about the outside world.

“Doctors are all fatphobic and are getting patients killed! Fatphobia in society is planned by the patriarchy and murders fat people with anti-fat agendas and unsafe situations for fat people! Fat deaths are being covered up by healthcare workers because reasons! Talking to non-FA family members will trigger trauma and eating disorders and you must cut off “toxic” family who are concerned about your weight. Anyone who tells you to lose weight is your enemy. We are your new family. Stay within fat-friendly groups while online for ‘support.’”

FA members of all stripes often post paranoid articles, blogs and SM posts about how everyone in public is thinking about them, secretly laughing at them looking at them with hatred just for being fat, how all your thin friends are ignorantly judging you. The paranoia about other people’s opinions and motives is sky-high.

5. The group relies on shame cycles.

Quote: “Cult leaders trap members in shame cycles by imposing abnormally strict codes of conduct (...) guilting members for their shortcomings, and then positioning themselves as the unique remedy to the feelings of guilt which they themselves created.”

FA members are encouraged to self-flagellate on their social accounts by pointing out and apologizing for all their undeserved privilege, as a smallfat or a whitefat or a richfat or an hourglass-shapedfat, etc. The movement indirectly encourages members to do confessional posts about how they USED to want to be thin, about how they had bad ideals and bad opinions and bad goals, but no more, because FA/HAES has removed those bad thoughts and brought them peace. Posting about how you’re constantly struggling to love yourself is also rewarded and encouraged. The message that the ONLY way you’ll feel better about yourself is through HAES is everywhere. Members are often shamed for losing weight and forced to admit it was accidental, or medically induced, and to feel shame for wanting to lose weight.

Everyone in the movement is strictly woke-policed by others, every post must be carefully crafted to not assume any minimal privileges or cause offence to anyone, or they will be deemed problematic.”

6. The leader is above the law.

When something scandalous or cancel-worthy comes up with top FA proponents, supporters rush in to excuse them, come up with reasons why it’s not that bad and to stave off others calling for them to be canceled, even in the face of lying or grifting with unmailed “tshirt sales” and other fundraisers. Even when evidence is put forth, supporters will claim the person is just too good a person to be punished, they didn’t mean it, they won’t do it again.

7. The group uses “thought reform” methods.

Quote: “If your serious questions are answered with cliches, you’re probably in a cult. [...] The hallmark of indoctrination is the use of thought-terminating cliches. Platitudes like “follow the leader” or “doubt your doubts” are regurgitated over and over so that members don’t have to critically analyze complex issues.”

“Health at every size!” “Real women have curves!” “Fat babe!” “Goddess-sized!” “Riots not diets!” “Diets don’t work!” “Treat yourself!” “Doctors don’t know everything!” “You NEED to eat!” “Foods are not good or bad!”

A literal example of thought reform is the new FA talking point that thin and/or fit people should watch pornography of obese people every day for a certain amount of time, and spend time meditating on trying to find obese people sexually appealing, “rewiring” their brains to accept this point of view. A literal brainwashing technique.

It didn’t work for all the gay people forced to go to conversion camps in the last 30 or 40 years but hey, maybe this time.

8. The group is elitist.

Quote: “lf your group is the solution for all the world’s problems, you’re probably in a cult. Cults see themselves as the enlightened, chosen, and elect organization tasked with radically transforming individual lives and the entire world.”

Pretty much this. All FA and HAES is built on the idea that hatred of fat people is rooted in capitalism, racism, lookism and the patriarchy. Somehow, they can overthrow evolutionary beauty standards AND the patriarchy AND racism AND capitalism, just by posting plus size bikini pics on Instagram. The world will be a PEACEFUL and BETTER place with Fat Acceptance, because it will benefit ALL peoples! Anyone who doesn’t belong to this group is a bigot!

9. There is no financial transparency/the group makes financial demands of supporters constantly

Pretty much every other fundraiser, t-shirt sale, Fat Babe Camp or GoFundMe based on FA and HAES rep and circulated within the community. Massive guilt and solidarity is used to make people donate “to support the fat cause/support this fellow fat!” Much of that donating goes into a single individual’s pocket.

There are constant problems with money being diverted to personal pockets, items not being delivered...just look at “fat babe Jude Valentin.” She neeeeeeded a stand-up desk because she was in pain from unspecified plus-size conditions, plz support a fat queer latinx creator! Supporters bought it for her.

Two weeks later a 1500 dollar chair caught her eye and suddenly she neeeeeded that for the pain too. Supporters bought the chair and the “stand up desk” has not been seen since. A year ago she neeeeeded donations to escape her toxic bigot parents. Money flowed in, she bought herself a brand-new gaming computer with it and stayed right where she was, in her parents’ home. Nobody called her on it.

Tess Holliday is a known “fat model icon” and a massive grifter who robbed a lot of her followers with her tshirt merch sale, supposedly for the benefit of “effing thin people’s beauty standards.” She pocketed money meant for charity donations, before being caught and forced to actual donate it.

And 10, which is the only one that outright doesn’t apply, is

10. The group performs secret rites.

Not sure that applies unless there are secret cake-eating rites to which I’m not privy..but yeah, 9 out of 10 signs.

Some sources (the first three off google, honestly you could list them for days):

Another thing. MRIs , CTs, and other scans are not without their risk. You WILL be exposed to radiation as well as contrast like gadolinium or some iodinated contrast. That shit isnt good for you and a GOOD doctor will not order those tests unless you have tried other possible means. Contrast can wreak havoc on your kidneys and if you are hypertensive or diabetic it really isnt the best option. And les be real, these hams are likely prediabetic and have heart problems.

Also the doctor could have to end up explaining to insurance or other specialists WHY they ordered a test straight away instead of ensuring the patient try something else like weight loss or physical therapy. Plus, insurances will not approve these expensive scans anyway unless it is absolutely medically necessary in order to diagnose a patient after having exhausted other treatment options.

My brain is attempting to process the legs...Did she just smoosh some extra fat in each side? Like filling in a hole in a pizza dough.

Also at what point do you go, yea my boobs are just a inflatible tube that go around my entire back side this is fine...

Lmao. Love how she put that black fats are encouraged to include their pay app info. Gotta get those woke points in while sounding racist at the same time.

Also, I would have never guessed that she was goth, because my first impression was "white trash". And of the goth people I know, none of them would ever be caught in blue jeans out in public (unless it was Halloween and they dressed like a normal person as their costume).

"If you identify as a larger Superfat or Infinifat ..."

This opens up so many questions. Does self-ID work with physical size the way it does with genders now? Can anyone identify as an infinifat and post pix, or does physical body matter in this case? If someone is a mere American XL in a size where the average is an American M, do they get to claim infinifat status in relation to others around them?

(I'm guessing that the answer to all of the above is "No, you skinny cunt.")

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you, "She's all fat: a fat positive podcast".

Juliana Aprileo (thread here) was on there and had some choice quotes:

“I am now a person who cannot reach to care for myself after I poop.”

“I’m working with my job to get a bidet installed so I can poop at work.”

“we should normalize this.”
Of course the other hosts and callins were equally horrible, why do you ask?

There was an infamous post on "This is Thin Privilege" (which has its own thread too) about someone who identified as "a transfat individual who prefers to wear cushions underneath my clothing to represent my phantom fat. It should say a LOT that we couldn't tell whether it was a troll.... and apparently neither could the TITP mods.

> ...this honored group

There is no honor in deathfattery, as evidenced by the recent post referencing J Aprileo admitting she literally can't WIPE HER ASS CUZ FAT. Something about the delicate phrasing; “I am now a person who cannot reach to care for myself after I poop.” idk it's extra repulsive. She can't bring herself to really look down the barrel of the gun that is her obesity and say "yea, I can't reach my own asscrack, haven't seen it in years".

Also lol "gib black fatties money" and "all gendurz". Someone call FEMA cause fat acceptance is an insufferable disaster.

What's with podcast fats and being like *vague gesture* this?
"Why Won't You Date Me?" is a perfect example. The very premise of her whole podcast could be answered with just a photo of the host.
