I blame Tumblr for popularizing the concept of "emotional support animals" (known by normal people as "pets") and the crazy idea that they are somehow the same as trained service dogs. And just like the average tumblrite in 2013 Jonathan does not have enough braincells to understand the difference. I agree with the idea that he is trying to find someone to sue for not allowing his dog into the store. The case will fall through immediately as soon as he fails to provide documentation proving it's an actual service dog and not just some mutt from the pound with whom he's getting uncomfortably close.

The part of me that still feels empathy hopes this is all bullshit and he is never getting a dog. For the sake of the dog I mean.

a service animal which is what I believe he wants is completely different. They are highly trained animals that also typically require specialize diets. I don’t know what the qualifications are in Canada to get a service animal but in no sane world would he ever qualify.

Now that being said, I have said the same thing in regards to his choppy choppy surgery. It seems he lied and manipulated his way into getting that, so don’t put it past him to do the same to take a highly trained animal away from a waiting truly disabled person.

right that's exactly my point. he won't be able to get a service animal,so hes going to try to pass an emotional support animal as one instead.

are they free in canada like with public healthcare? if they are i imagine the vetting process to get one is strict. if they aren't i don't imagine he can afford it.

No vetting in the states, any MD can write a script that will cover ANY creature one wants.
Some fool has an emotional support alligator...started some shit when they wouldn't let him on a plane with it.
Support animals serve a purpose, the same as with other things, it's ripe for abuse by the drama queens.

Yeah, BC doesn't play that emotional support animal game.

> Therapy and emotional support animals, including dogs, are not eligible for certification.

> It is a Guide Dog and Service Dog Act offence to represent a dog as a guide or service dog when it is not. A conviction carries a fine of up to $3,000.

My Dogs have been therapy animals for years, PTSD. I hear things at night & if the Dog doesn't alert? I know it was my head & not a threat. I have no need to take them everywhere with me, stores, restaurants etc.
About the only time it will come into play is if I'm traveling & a motel wants to refuse the animal or charge more for it.
And it does piss me off when I see people like jonny playing on it, puts people like me in a bad light.

Well then, JJYS will have nothing at all to stand on. I hope he tries to n filled a lolsuit just to continue making it easier to declare him a VL

Although BC does not certify therapy/emotional support animals, it seems the BCHRT is not above extending the rights normally associated with actual service dogs to cover glorified pets.

I haven’t looked up the underlying case, but apparently the HRT ruled that strata “no pet” rules are in breach of the BC Human Rights Code where the person needs the therapy animal to help with a disability. This article provides an overview.

That case was specifically about landlord and tenant issues, but I expect the HRT might well extend this to include ‘rights’ to other services, such as access to stores, even when the animal concerned is not a certified service animal. So I expect this will end up with another trip to the HRT for Jon.

I really hope he won't be able to get cleared for a service dog, I hope that the process in Canada is similar to here in the UK, but I appreciate that it could be wildly different.

Here in the UK, to receive a Guide Dog, for a Visual Impairment, you are given an assessment and if you pass, you are placed on a waiting list, which can be for many years.

It's not even a case of you get the next dog that becomes available, you have to go away on a residential training course, to see how the dog and yourself suit each other, and to teach you the commands (The dog already knows them) .

If all that goes well, you pay a nominal fee to the charity (it was 50p when I was placed on the waiting list) which means you are Loaning the dog, rather than owning it, that way the charity can take the dog back from you if you don't keep up it's training or use of commands, mistreat it or your needs change.

Especially if you feed it pot brownies and blame it on an intruder.

I would hope that the process for being a Service Dog Owner would follow a similar stringent policy, but more suited to the particular Impairment or need, but I'm more tempted to think (like most people) that the fool is just going to try to pass Precious From The Pit off as a Service Dog.

You forgot the troon rule. I hope he can't get one either. He'll probably try to fuck it.

It's like that in a lot of US states as well; emotional support animals aren't subject to normal pet regulations when it comes to housing.

HOWEVER, they're still not service animals and can be disallowed from stores, restaurants, and other public places.

Also I doubt their strata would allow the retarded sticker for a service animal anyway; if they did they wouldn't have cited MY in the first place because they know how JY operates.

It would be very suspect if Yaniv is found to be haunting the area where that coffee shop is, he would literally have to drive 40 mins to a hour just to get there.

That area has a natural deterrent of not being vehicle friendly, so john would have to walk and get some exercise.
