Yea it kinda looks like The Evil Within but we don't have nearly enough Cosmic horror games so fuck you I'm excited.

Is this a video game based on the movie "The Final Sacrifice"?
Yup, that one is being made by Cyanide Studios, same people who made the Styx games (the stealth one featuring Styx the goblin) and presently releasing an episodic game called The Council. Again, another middleware team that understands how atmosphere works. Unlike Frogwares, who tends to make things as realistic (within reason considering their budget), Cyandie I've noticed has a very stylized, quasi-surreal style, so yeah, if they're doing Lovecraft, this should be a hoot. There is also the official Call of Cthulhu game coming some time this year.
I dunno what patches Frogware is talking about, as the version that's on steam is from 2020 if one checks the exe file, which implies this version was least patched out in some places as this was supposed to be the version that went on steam anyway. The DLC for this game is pretty useless since it's just some outfits/OP weapons you can get super early. Also, apparently, you get can the Frogware version on Origin and some game site where it sells for 42 euros (an that's without the DLC for fuck sake) . Frankly, Frogwares were the ones who jumped to suck Epic's dick back in 2019 and used steam as means to pimp their game, finally, it seems they have a habit of picking publishers that may have some financial issues and then dragging their ass to court for one reason or another (like they did with the Spiders publisher)Drama brewing, after playing keep-away with EPIC exclusivity The Sinking City is back on steam again at 60% ($16) off. ($12.80 at GreenmanGaming)
From what I've read Nacon (Publisher, formerly BigBen) took the devs (Frogware) to court in france, judge allowed Nacon to distribute the game again as they saw fit.
Here is where it gets interesting.
Nacon seemingly removed Frogware's Steam permissions, Frogware then used a steam feature to announce to everyone a message that boils down to "This game is an old version of our game, it has no DLC, Patches, Cloud saves, buy on Epic instead" at full price.
Now people are chimping out and dividing themselves into camps engaging in mental gymnastics to come out on top.
Now, I just checked the game's page and it looks like an interesting game. Looking at the game itself I do not see what would stop me from enjoying Nacon's version; Cloud saves are irrelevant to me, DLC is not a necessity to enjoy a game, and the only real gamble is the patches.
As for morality and ethics, both publisher and dev have an apparent history of trying to fuck eachother over, so I don't have any sympathy for either.
Is it really awful? Put it to me this way, is it better or worse than that 2018 Call of Cthulhu game? What, did they not settle their shit yet?
Either way the game is all around awful and you shouldn't buy it from anywhere.
Honestly, Sinking City isnt bad as a detective game its pretty damn good, it has some great atmosphere and does have some neat moments. However, its combat isnt the best, the upgrade/RPG stuff is meh at most. Id say its def a tad better than the 2018 game, also if you want a CoC RPG I suggest Stygian Reign of the Old Gods for that.Is it really awful? Put it to me this way, is it better or worse than that 2018 Call of Cthulhu game?
That 2018 Call of Cthulhu game, while not completely terrible (I beat it at least) is very far from great and I had my eye on The Sinking City as something hopefully better.
Why aren't there better HP Lovecraft games these days? I'd love someone to make a Call of Cthulhu game on the level of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines.
