Articles & Happening Meta Discussion

Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

I propose only having the following nonsense stickers in A&N: troon gash, Amberlynn Laygs, and winky butthole.

Readers can attribute whatever meaning to them they like. It will usher in a new era of healing and cooperation across the site. I should be put in charge immediately 🐸

edit from the future: why has my modship not been enacted yet?

So when is this thread getting merged with Pastadome?
Speaking of pasta, I had a pretty good meal yesterday.

Boil some conchiglie in water, add salt until the water is so salty it's undrinkable.

Dice an onion, mince some garlic and cook them them in a saucepan until the onions are transparent.

When the onions are done add:
  • Small chunks of chicken thigh
  • Tin of chopped tomatoes
  • Lots of pepper
  • Basil (I used dried because the basil plant I had died, I have the opposite of a green thumb)
  • Whatever else you want to add, you're the one cooking so it's up to you
When the pasta's done keep some of the water when you're straining it (the starch in the water helps thicken the sauce) and put the sauce and pasta into a casserole dish. Give it a good mix when it's in the dish

Top with grated cheese (I like mature cheddar for the tang, but mozzarella works as well if you want a creamier flavour) and bake it in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 180C.

Germany didn’t denounce Hitler’s sticker collecting enough and let him rise to power. It’s sickening. Himmler also collected lots of stickers and they were positive ones. It’s truly a travesty.
I guess the six-pointed star stickers were an extreme form of negating.

I hope all the old stickers are kept since they seem to be brought back, there's a lot of stuff warranting optimism, horrifying, think provoking, autistic, etc.
The sticker problem largely works itself out and you don't see people often getting as mad over them anymore.

Edit, nvm it's broken still and a figment of my imagination. I'd like to see them brought back fully or removed entirely. Either extreme is good.

I didn't wanna talk about this because it's an awkward subject but people keep bringing it up and its filling up the spiderman thread in supporters. I would prefer that people stop recommending me for mod or pretend mod for A&N, it's a funny joke but I've pissed off a number of people and I get on people's nerves because of my opinions.
If I became a mod I feel that would undermine my ability to freely post what I want as I'd be held to different standards and that would cause problems. I want to focus on making content, informing people or challenging people's ideas, not cleaning up after people or pissing off sections of newfags with hot takes that they could see as being endorsed by the site because of the badge.
I certainly know how annoying it when you see a mod such as @Gustav Schuchardt shitting up threads with half baked takes. Inevitably gaining that badge changes how people see you and people become more afraid to challenge you. It would be less fun for me.

Tl;dr me becoming a mod would be a loss for everybody, pls stop the only thing I want is my reporting ability back so I can help clean up A&N.
Not to mention Null doesn't want to and asking about it anymore will probably annoy him.

This is how you campaign to get your janny transition people. Learn from this if you too wish to make the change for yourself happen.

Gustav's been out of action for awhile. And I don't think this subforum needs anymore mods anyway.

if i was given janny for some godforsaken reason i would step down immediately, I don't want the attention.

This is the absolutely correct stance. Well said in almost all respects.

How about stickers but opposite meanings. So sticking like is actually unlike. And disagree is agree. Oh the fun and whimsy we will have with this.

Or tard coins that can be used to tip good posts and somehow taken away for bad posts.

Don't make me a mod. I'm unfit for the position and if I am made mod I'll use my new found power to troll everyone.
