Mega Rad Gun Thread

It wasn't just the civilian market they felt themselves too good for. When socom came to them asking for specialized m4 variants they told socom to fuck off too. That's the only reason the scar and m416 exist, because FN and HK were more than happy to work with them on some new rifles.
They are really proud of the M4, in their mind it is perfect the way it is. its like glock and perfection.
Colts basically the perfect example on how not to run a gun manufacturer.
Remington too.

Colt completely missed the boat on the revolver to semi automatic transition, when the military decided they didn't want a wonder 9 just yet Colt just sat on the SSP while S&W brought the Model 59 onto the market and started eating their lunch when it came to law enforcement contracts. They didn't try to get back into it until the Double Eagle once the P220 and S&W 645 had already been around for years, and then made one more try with the All American 2000 before just giving up altogether thinking they could ride the M4 .gov contracts forever.

And Winchester who went out of business decades ago and the current day "Winchester" is a completely different company wearing a skinsuit.
Winchester rifles today are the best made Winchester's there have ever been. leaving new haven helped them. hiring autistic japs to make the guns helped them more.

they had the Z40 that would have been popular but colt in their infinite wisdom dropped it. CZ kept it around as the RAMI. might see a comeback now that CZ owns Colt.

Sounds like Springfield Armory.
Close but different as Springfield Armory was Uncle Sam owned, well runned barring a few blunders like the M14 and needed McNamara to fucked them over by shutting it down and selling off parts of the corpse.

Was only speaking of previous management running Winchester into the ground. Personally haven't heard much negative of current Winchester.

just imagine if we had got the T48 instead of the M14. May not have ever had the M16.

Nope on govt issue but for the civilian market it is a shame they/we couldn't get a chance to play and tinker with it.

The RAMI itself was discontinued last year, the DA/SA pistol has had its day unfortunately. If Colt does get new product it'll probably be a rebranded CZ polymer striker gun.

I've only really been shooting .22lr for like, a year now. I bought a massive stockpile of it because it was the first (and main) thing to disappear during the Sandy Hook panic. Wish I'd stocked everything as aggressively as I stocked 22. Have one of those plastic green ammo cans still filled to the brim with loose rounds and a couple random boxes lying around.

that will be too bad as strikers are mushy gravely crap (excepting the Ruger EC9 striker, very nice pull). Give a shooter a nice single action and they immediately shoot better. almost without fail.

So can anybody even afford to go to the range anymore? I haven't been in 4-5 months because in my neck of the woods even 9mm has almost hit a buck a round. It's so ridiculous over here that at my local pawn shop those motherfuckers were selling rounds in dime bags for 10 bucks a bag of 10.
Still affordable in leafland somehow. Russian stuff can sometimes get real cheap for no reason. Found some Barnaul 308 FMJ at under $15 Cad a pack recently. Yes, Berdan primed, steel case, etc. Last year it was something like a pack of Barnaul 9mm for $10 Cad. Gotta be on the lookout for deals constantly.

Anyone have thoughts on the Palmetto State GF3 AKs? Looking to add another 7.62 gun since ite the only "reasonable" cartridge at the moment.

My pipe dream is that they bring back a modern Colt SSP, though that'll never happen again as the window for a stainless steel double action gun being the tacticool meta has long passed. My S&W 5906 is my best pointing and shooting gun but I'd like it to have some company, I'd like to get a Beretta 92X Performance or a Staccato 2011 eventually but those are still very much out of reach for me for the time being.

I had actually left a message on your profile but I'll reiterate here for the benefit of others :

Stay away from PSA AKs if you actually value your money. You are not going to find a decently made AK under $1000 in this current market unless someone is selling a used import and doesn't know its value or you luck across a pawn shop find. The only good domestic AK rifle manufacturer at this time is Kalashnikov USA with their KR-103, which is an AK-103 clone. They have the actual TDP from Kalashnikov Concern which is why they're the only US company that's been able to get it right.

I'm biased but I'd recommend Zastava, you can find them for around the same price as a PSA maybe a little more.
I let my 10-year-old shoot my G17 for the first time last weekend. He had a blast (he was dropping the slide the instant the 1-shot magazine clicked in place... fucking CoD lol); was worth all the ~$50 he put through it.
I can't wait for my kid to be old enough to go shooting. They still need to learn to walk first though.

I cut into to my stash and went to the range on Sunday. Hadn't been since before the election, and didn't wanna get too rusty.

Thank you for the info. Again.

Any thoughts on the Stribog Neshan Johnson gen 2 for a 9mm pdw?
