I understand what you are getting at, but I question how you can not view the U.S. government, which at this point is mostly led by career bureaucrats disconnected from the citizenry, as anything but self-interested and/or hostile after the 2020 COVID lockdown fiasco.

It got this way exactly because useless eaters decided that a little bit of whatever they define as "service" means they're a class above and should be treated differently. Look at how many politicians never had a real job, they all sit around behaving like parasites and telling each other they're more part of the community than the people that actually make up that community.

If you're a net contributor, which includes military, fire fighters and people volunteering their time for social causes, then you're a citizen. As soon as you stop being a net contributor then you're not participating in society and you lose the right to direct it, until you can contribute again.
