I suggested she took me to some Lowe or Walmart equivalent so I can get a chainsaw and I’d help her trim the huge tree in her backyard. She said I couldn’t since I need an operate license on top of license to actually buy and own the chainsaw in Australia. Some of my Germany friends also had some weird licensing ruling regarding hardwares like that which is crazy for a suppose western progressive country.

Seriously though, of course they'll require you to have a license to operate a chainsaw on a pro-contractor level. It's the difference between a professional who has insurance that can cover any accidental damages that can happen during a job vs some random idiot wielding a chainsaw to trim a tree only to have some of the big branches damage the neighbor's yard that you're then personally on the hook for. Might even be more strict in areas with a Home Owner's Association.
