The bill will very likely fail in the Senate. The Democrats know this. And they will use the failure of this bill to torpedo any attempt by Republicans to pass their own election reforms because "they had a chance to pass reform and voted it down."

And nothing will change and the elections will remain broken. Which is exactly what the leadership in both parties wants.

Which means the fight against electoral fraud will have to be fought at the state level, which isn't ideal, but it's better than Voter ID being outlawed at the federal level.

Are you sure? The Democrats have the Senate, and they can easily brute force whatever they want through the process. And if they’re really dedicated, they can hold things hostage until they get their wishes. People have talked about the filibuster being nuked, but we’ve also seen government shutdowns. Democrats are petty, power hungry, and vindictive. Three adjectives that can be terrible on their own, but when combined....don’t make a pretty picture.
