Yeah, Komaeda is extremely popular but when I was first playing DR2 I thought he was pretty damn annoying. Kokichi (as the "rival character" in V3) in my opinion is a big improvement as well as a far more interesting character. Kokichi is a bit more unpredictable while still being consistent and is a representation of that game's theme of "truth vs. lies", and such.

Not to mention you have some points where you can lie in class trials, even some being required to progress. And Kokichi knows you lyin.

Definitely improved. It's the only thing that was improved. DRv3 is boring as shit.

I think it was decent up until the "twist" (mostly because said "twist" falls heavily into the categories of "twists that invalidate the entire point of the story" and "twists that were literally impossible to predict".)

Also, somebody made a fan execution of Tromp. I’d say it’s satirical but it’s done so shitty I’m not quite sure.

That execution was really boring to watch. You would think that given how Orange Man is so hated to the point that it can give Monokuma a run for his money in terms of being an ass, you would go all out with that. There wasn't even any blood in the video at all.

Did some more digging on the Mandy situation, and found out that he had made a response to the doc in a twitlonger (Archive) and another doc. (Archive)

Rundown:

• Mandy had a gore and murder kink back in 2018-2019, during in which he wished death on several people (through stabbing and gore) - now finds it disgusting and doesn't indulge in it anymore, according to him - involved an ex of his
• Used to engage in erotic roleplay with other people and admitted he wasn't always careful and didn't confirm the ages of the other participants beforehand
• Got called racist because he posted an image of Ken saying "Tch! You're black? Get out!", apparently the image was poorly cropped and taken out of context
• Someone made claims about him saying the dreaded N-WoRd several times but says there's no evidence of it
• The scamming incident was just him paying someone a month late after the commission was done. Says he now pays before getting the commission but hasn't shown screenshots other than images of already finished commissions.
• Says he didn't know about MrRayan's age (that 15 year old) and that it's unfair to accuse him of pedophilia even though he was grossed out by it
• The other cheating allegation wasn't cheating because the other already had known. This person told others of a group server though so Mandy could get out of it.
• Admits to guiltripping someone back into a relationship, says it was due to his poor mental health at the time but says he takes responsibility for his behavior
• Someone accused him of being a pedo because he...simped for an anime character who was 17 at one point (Peko Pekoyama)
• Says he had been seeing therapists and getting medication for hallucinations and other issues

I guessed that tweest from the game's intro, so it at least wasn't completely out of nowhere. Just really, really dumb and campy.

And I think that's part of why these games have such a draw for these edgy, autistic fucking weirdos. The charm of the games are that they're dumb and they're so overblown and overdramatic. These stupid fucking retards take it all at face value and see it as a 'serious' series and start trying to idolize or find meaning in what is for all intents and purposes just a dumb, fun romp with a few notes here and there about the parasitic relationship between entertainment and audience.

To make a long story short, he got his dick in a twist over some redesigns he could have easily ignored, and refused to have a proper conversation about taking them down (he's MEAN, of course he can be an edgy bitch without any reason! ). I took them down after a little while, mostly because I was tired of hearing about him and his parasite followers.

For those who are unaware, V3 (the last game unless the devs start to run low on money) ends with a massive 4th wall break , where it pretty explicitly calls out how people who form their identies around fictional properties and obsess over fictional characters are wasting their lives. It then goes on to heavily criticizes people who demand more DR sequels, regardless of how it would negatively impact their quality , and how they either ignore or fail to see how messed up that games about children murdering each other actually are, and what their thirst for more says about them.

For obvious reasons, if you see them discussing it at all, it's usually limited to bitching about how it ruined the franchise's plot (that was always an overly edgy, convoluted mess) or bizarre attempts to change it's meaning in a way that isn't condemning them.

I haven't followed this series for some time and, knowing that's the canon ending is fucking hilarious. The fandom's been a nuclear dumpster fire for years. Since it's originally a Japanese game, I wasn't expecting the creators to be aware enough to put in that kind of commentary. Make's you wonder what the Japanese community for this game is like compared to the west.
