Little tidbit of trivia here, the blue horns that Kevin wears when he cosplays Hiro is a symbol of Zero Two's control and dominance over his life because she's a literal living parasite.
At one point when those horns grow to their biggest and start glowing, he says "If I can't see her smile again, I might as well be dead" to his friends when they confront him on their unhealthy relationship right before he ditches all of them, his friends, forever to go out into space to be with her again. He literally has no one left but her by the end of the show.

All of the listed manipulation methods in this post also really line up with Zero Two's behaviors throughout the show. Darling in the Franxx really seems like it was specifically made for people like Lori/Usagi.

There were lots of jokes about how the anime was trying to promote having kids to the Japanese audience, but it's clear to see it was really promoting Simpery all along.

As someone who has had kidney stones (which then led to a kidney infection) -- kidney stones are not that bad. Maybe the "passing" them part is bad, but if he drove his ass to the doctor there are ways the doctor's office can help if they are bad enough (but maybe they weren't bad enough?). Kevin needs to drink more water and cut any soda/energy drinks out. I know he's working his ass off to pay for his and Lori's luxurious lifestyles so I wouldn't be surprised if he's drinking a lot of energy drinks. It could also be his diet (food with high sodium and not enough calcium).
