I think the problem here is that while the show is hosted by people who know what they're talking about, the audience is going to be the people who want to pull a Song of the South on any movie with anything "problematic," regardless of how big of a problem it actually is.

I typically like PolitiFact, and I suspect I give them far more credit than many users in this thread, but yeah this is a fucking stupid article. People still use gender as a synonym for sex, see: literally anyone who's held a gender reveal party for a baby (which STILL includes a fair number who buy into gender identity and trans stuff).
Not to mention the only way gender identity can be studied empirically is by examining the statistics of how people self report their gender in relation to their biological sex. Something as nebulous as "I feel like x" can never be verified as true or assigned any objective meaning, because there's obviously no way of knowing if it means the same thing to two different people.
I'd go as far to suggest that this is where nb/agenders come from -- they buy into gender identity, but don't feel like a "man" or "woman," they just feel like themselves. Except that's just what all "cis" people feel like, and the whole trans phenomenon probably has more to do with their brain being disconnected with their conception of the self. Anecdotally, a common thread among all the trans and genderspecial people I've known personally was disassociative episodes. One of them even no longer gives a shit about gender identity since they've stopped having those episodes
Of course, I can't really know if I'm right or not, for the same reason they can't. Difference is, I don't consider it everyone else's moral imperative to agree with my pseudo-intellectual philosophizing. I know I'm just some random loser and nobody cares about my retarded takes.
This tangent is really long and pointless. I guess I'm just glad to be in an environment where the only repercussions for this rant are negrates, rather than committing social suicide like anywhere else.

Ranting aside, at least this is just one of their articles rather than their actual fact checks (since it doesn't have a True/False rating). Not that it counts for much. I'm used to their judgments being questionable sometimes, anyway. This is why you ignore the assigned rating on fact checks and go straight to the info/arguments/sources presented. If you consider it honestly you can come away better informed, even when you disagree with their conclusions.

It's pointless anyway, in the original she already is 'strong and capable'. In her very first scene the Toons think she's just a pretty face, and she totally schools them, showcasing amazing skill and spine. She was shown to have high level athletic skill and feminine virtues like beauty, empathy, and compassion. She complimented her teamates
and their masculine virtues, which allowed them to defeat the Mon-stars.
Changing her in an attempt to make a 'strong and capable' character is doomed to fail because she already was. All they can do, and seem to have done, is strip her of the things that made her great. In place of a woman beautiful in appearance and character, they seem determined to present something hideous inside and out.
These people are diseased in the mind, evilly bent to invert all virtues into vice to match their depraved and pestilent inner self.

You're right. Beauty in any context is bad to these people whether it's hygiene, civility, or talent. On some level they acknowledge this ugliness isn't good, but instead of being honest about it they use distractions and illusions to keep people from noticing. If people do notice, then they make excuses and double standards. Anything to keep people from knowing the truth.
They way you said that reminds me of an unused Oddworld character named Queen Margaret. She's ugly inside and out, but to distract herself from her ugliness she surrounds herself with elegance.

This thread was one of the main reasons I joined the farms. It seems that almost everywhere on the internet and even real life, fun and happiness are being "cancelled" because something something not progressive. Woke lefties have circled back around to being the biggest bigots, they're always on the hunt for something racist, or transphobic, or poor-people-phobic, etc. And 9/10 times they find it because they want to.
