Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Late to the discussion, but it seems like there should be a hard limit on bill length to discourage pork. Rather than 600 pages, maybe make it 40 pages, standard formatting. If there needs to be multiple bills on the issue, have it broken up into coherent points and redraft any bullshit bill so it remains coherent.

As a fun experiment, the average speech reading pace is around 140-160 words per minute. Assuming slower is better for clarity, 140 wpm equals 8400 words in an hour, which makes about 16 pages on average (which is the current average bill page count after being inflated by fuck huge bills). Alternatively, 4200 words in half an hour makes about 8 pages on average (a happier medium between the all time low average of 4 pages and the current 16).
Edit : Noteworthy to mention that 4 page average came from 1942, prior to the huge spike in cloture filings in the 70’s.

There's just one tiny problem: the length of the bills in and of themselves are pork.

It's to ensure lawyers and other assorted "experts" have lucrative jobs. Many, many Congresscritters are lawyers. The more byzantine the laws, the more lawyers need to be hired.

To wit, compare Glass-Steagall with Dodd-Frank in word count.

Holy fuck I'm loving all the comments from my social circle on their shitty social media pages. So many people I know were in fact stupid enough to vote for Biden on the basis of "buh muh moneys" and they're losing their asses on investments and now won't be getting stimmybux.
