How are DSA's FALs? I've heard the have qc issues but I've also heard they fixed them. Cause I really want a FAL and the Biden bucks would be a good start.

RTG Parts has several crates of metric, very good quality FAL magazines. inch pattern mags try Sarco - i imported two crates and sold one to them and other to Apex who promptly used them for inclusion in their parts kits (now is a good time for Galil kits btw). sweaty ben is sitting on a crate of metric FAL parts and mags for their RFB stuff but has some kicking around somewhere.Picking up a DSA scope mount for my (admittedly) Century Arms FAL. Anyone know of a good place to buy extra FAL mags that isn't DSA? I'm also looking for Vz stuff, as I've got a Vz 2008 Sporter, and was wondering if anyone had any good muzzle breaks that aren't the AK slant break for it.
I've had good luck in the past with Marstar, but they're looking pretty sparse lately; still have some Vz goodies though.Picking up a DSA scope mount for my (admittedly) Century Arms FAL. Still Grabblering. What's the latest news on gun grabbers?
If it's a 5" 9mm 1911, they struggle with reliability no matter what you do. The balance of reciprocating mass, spring weight and bolt thrust are on the very edge of acceptable ratios with 9mm. Heavier bullet weights, 124 or 147 grain, and Springfield or Metalform 9 round front ramp magazines will help. You may also look into getting a commander slide if you don't have one already. There's a reason why Colt didn't submit a full size 9mm to the military for testing.Since 1911’s have been mentioned; does anyone have one in 9mm? If so, how do you keep it running reliably? My series 80 Colt seems to need to be stripped down and cleaned after every range trip, or else it can’t get through a magazine without at least one failure-to-feed - typically the nose of the round gets lodged against the feed ramp and won’t budge.

9mm 1911 and 1911-pattern (Star, Llama, FMAP, Inglis, IMBEL, Kongsberg Vaapenfabrikk, et c) pistols were fairly common in europe as the pistol was adapted and adopted over the years as a licensed (or just cloned) item. the key difference is the geometry of the ramp and the magazine's follower and feed lips. i've posted about this before, but the 1911 uses "controlled feeding" where the cartridge is constantly in contact with at least 3 points at all times. If it's a 5" 9mm 1911, they struggle with reliability no matter what you do. I'm not sure what's cooler, you got such a nice rifle or you have a fucking spare lock spring for a snider on hand.I totally scored. I bought a (at first appearance) junky snider enfield for $50. I have no idea why they were willing to sell it so cheap but their loss is my gain. The lock wasn't holding half cock or full cock, the barrel was gunked up, and the action was seized. The lock just needs a new spring (I have one), the barrel so far actually seems decent and the rifling is crisp from my initial cleaning, the action just needs some loving but is in amazing condition and hadn't been bashed around (which in common in sniders). Nice markings as well, belonged to the 76th voltiguers of Chateaugueay.
I might post some pics of it deconstructed tomorrow.
Edit: 3 band snider
I’ve got Mec-Gar, Metalform, and Wilson Combat mags and managed to have the same stoppage with all of them. I guess it could be the ramp on the frame is cut at the wrong angle. It will be very disappointing if it that’s the case - Colt should know how to build these by now.9mm 1911 and 1911-pattern (Star, Llama, FMAP, Inglis, IMBEL, Kongsberg Vaapenfabrikk, et c) pistols were fairly common in europe as the pistol was adapted and adopted over the years as a licensed (or just cloned) item. the key difference is the geometry of the ramp and the magazine's follower and feed lips. i've posted about this before, but the 1911 uses "controlled feeding" where the cartridge is constantly in contact with at least 3 points at all times.
failure to feed with nose-to-ramp failure mode is either the ramp is too steep, the barrel's chamber mouth too deep, the feed lips of the magazine releasing too early, the follower tilting too much by magazine spring pressure at the rear (stacking 1st and 2nd rounds creating the tilt) or insufficient relief at the bottom of the breach (bottom of the slide under the firing pin channel should be ramped slightly). heavier bullets are slightly longer and will contact the top of chamber earlier and be released later, which lower the angle of attack for cartridge into the chamber mouth up the ramp, vs a shorter overall length of cartridge.
easiest "fix" is to use an appropriate magazine. this has the benefit of isolating the issue with the magazine or the barrel/frame. Wilson Combat, Chip McCormick, Dan Wesson, Para Ordnance, Mec-Gar and Brownell's tend to be the best aftermarket 9mm magazines. a factory magazine for that particular 9mm 1911 should also be appropriate, assuming you aren't having issues with factory magazines.
Don't forget this WW2 classic. Fun gun to shoot, cheap to feed. Good ballistics on the cartridge too, can reach out far with it.Is this World War 2 training video on the M1911 still relevant?
You have a super fun plinker and there will be no rabbits with in 500m of your life.Just wondering what happens if I buy a 17hmr now
Toks are cool the ammo is nice but cz52 master race here. One day I'll get a tok to own one but like most USSR era guns czechnology > slav shit.Don't forget this WW2 classic. Fun gun to shoot, cheap to feed. Good ballistics on the cartridge too, can reach out far with it.
I managed to snag one without the safety, putting one on a Tokarev is just blasphemy. CZ52s are fun too, but expensive as shit here, about 1k USD. Can't justify that when I can get two surplus Beretta M9s for that. Or three surplus 92S from some European police force, which I assume were dropped more than fired. That 92S is pretty tempting, must say.You have a super fun plinker and there will be no rabbits with in 500m of your life.

Seriously the cz52 is a fucking HOOT. Load it with tracers and it looks like the god damn storm troopers in star wars guns.
Most repo toks have a safety unlike the OGs.
all full-size Colt series 70 and later 1911 9mm pistols are conversions of the .38 Super Auto variation of the 1911. as such, you might need something like the EGW magazine catch, which allows the magazine to sit slightly higher in the frame (https://www.egwguns.com/hd-higher-mag-catch-machined-from-barstock-checkered-blue), however this is not true of specific stocking dealer models or for their competition or custom shop pistols.I guess it could be the ramp on the frame is cut at the wrong angle. Well when you have several sniders, you need a few spare sear springs.I'm not sure what's cooler, you got such a nice rifle or you have a fucking spare lock spring for a snider on hand.
