As a kid/teenager, I grew up near a river with very strong currents where many people drowned over the years. One winter a poor soul committed suicide by jumping in the water in the middle of January and the current was too strong to go and get him out. The man got stuck under a chunk of ice and they weren't able to fish him out before mid-April.

I was there out of morbid curiosity when they pulled him out. He looked exactly like this minus the chicken drumstick :
