Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Here’s the thing: I’ve heard one of the things about Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump share the same appreciation of showing an alpha personality, so they’re kindred spirits who could get along if it wasn’t for politics (I’ve also heard a suggestion of Trump inviting Kin Jong Un to do a road trip across America). So, if America and North Korea could get along well enough to not launch nukes, who cares if they’re called two dictators? Dennis Rodman could find common ground with the guy.

As for the sister (who again, looks and probably acts like a real life Azula), looks like she’s fully bought into the Juche ideology, beyond what propaganda says and making the right moves to move up in NK politics. I truly think that she wants to get rid of her country’s mortal enemies of the US and South Korea. The only thing I can hope on is that she’s daring people to make the first move because when shit pops off, you don’t look as bad if you weren’t the one who started it. And America doesn’t seem like the type to take the bait.

The sister is undoubtedly well aware of the strategic balances between NK and the USA, and NK and SK. Absent the nukes, NK would be an Asian Albania, and not much more of a threat than Albania. She is also undoubtedly well aware that China provides a great deal of support to NK, and China doesn't want another Korean War.

Got news for you...this woman will never become leader. Just not going to happen. She surely advises her brother, but her brother is in charge. NK is still very much a male-dominated society. SK is also male-dominated, but somewhat less so than NK.

In my opinion, her public utterances are a signal that NK wants to talk with the Biden regime. What concerns me is who Joe might have talk with them. Joe can't do it. Harris...no idea. Hope someone competent is doing the backchannel communications. At the rate things seem to be going, all the gains made by President Trump are likely to be frittered away. That really eats shit, and could cost lives.

Another thing, one thing I think leftists don’t realize is for all their talk of progressive utopia, and pushing of things like BLM...place like China, Iran, North Korea, places that are said to love the thought of America on its knees, don’t care for that shit. And could easily see that as weakness. Biden seems like a Neville Chamberlin type, and Kamala could very well be the type of person a NK or China could move to eliminate or overthrow from the shadows just so they don’t have to deal with her and her shit.

As far as I've ever heard nobody's actually believed in Juche for at least a quarter century, but they do believe in acting like they do to avoid getting themselves and their family sent to death camps.

It'll never happen, but he's probably the best choice. Career diplomats can work out goals and joint statements, but we need a public face and his is the one they know.

Good to also remember North Korea does all these shenanigans for a very explicit reason: resources. It's less known right now, but the US has supplied a great deal of humanitarian aid to the Norks, particularly under Clinton and Bush. In exchange North Korea toned down the rhetoric and went back to being the quiet hermit kingdom. Until said supply started drying up and then missiles, nukes, and sabre rattling are back on the table and headline news. Cue the backroom discussions to avoid calamity which oh so conveniently ends with more aid given to a people who frankly need it. Even Trump wasn't immune - see the leap of tensions and swath of missile launches following the collapse of Trump's and Kim's second meeting after the US refused to remove all sanctions.

This IMO is what makes the current Yemen situation all the more disgusting. At least Trump was forthright in admitting the blockade was to support Saudi Arabia (and limit Chinese inroads with the Saudis). Biden though comes out and says he's withdrawing public American support - only to firmly retain it behind the scenes because obviously the US isn't about to abandon a "regional ally". Good old progressive values, there cannot be a famine because my government says there isn't one!
