'Lolita' is actually the name of a book written by Vladimir Nabokov about a man's sexual interest in a 12 year old girl who he nicknames "Lolita."

I'm well aware of that fact. I cant particularly give any insight into why the Japanese thought naming the style after the book was a good idea, but I'd imagine its because Japan is Japan.

Also, as an aside, I belive Nabokov was well aware of how creepy the protagonist of Lolita is, and I daresay the character's projection of pedophilic desires onto a child is the disquieting point of the book. Almost like the crossing of a character study and a criminal profile. I don't think Nabokov was a pedophile, for if he was he wouldn't have written a book about a delusional creep being prosecuted for the crime.

But instead she got away from her abuser, made peace with herself, and found a mostly normal adult life. I wish more trans men had the courage to do that.
