"Not all gays...." People will argue that this isn't a story about gayness, and that gayness is only incidental to the allegations of abuse.

"Innocent until proven guilty!" People care a lot about the presumption of innocence and due process when it applies to someone they identify with. It's difficult to make a case for bullying. Who, besides a hopeless asshole, likes the idea of little kids crying because someone called them "fag"? Wouldn't it be lovely if people could be kind to each other?

I identify as a leftist, or liberal, or progressive, but on on a few issues, like bullying, I fear I have more common ground with my political foes. I don't think that this anti-bullying stuff is malevolent or creating a generation of genderspecial pussies; it's merely leaving children unprepared for the realities of life in a world that is full of shitheads, and will always be full of shitheads. They'll still have to learn some lessons, but it will be less pleasant.

I do not think it is necessary to teach children to dislike and distrust trannies. They already do. It takes a tremendous amount of effort to normalize troonery, and even then, kids can recognize the inherent absurdity of shit like girldick.

This. Once you reach certain echelons of power (IE a judge), you start forgetting that the bad beyond the pale evil shit that you do normally on the downlow, is illegal. Because when you reach that certain level of power, prestige, and influence, you start believing the hype and the notion that you are untouchable even if caught red handed. And given that this monster was gay, he probably had the added layer of delusion that if caught, he'd scream homophobia and blood libel anyone who caught him as a bigot to silence them.
