More like half a year's income for working minimum wage. Plus ~$600 a week for 26 weeks, where you don't even have to pretend to look for work because coof. That's a year's wages at min wage on top of the stim + $300 a month per kid tax credit, and you don't pay taxes on it either.
Basically, anyone still working a min wage job is a sucker.

Fair point. still not super shocking, though saddening - you’ve got people divided, kids being told that demographics are destiny (so why bother trying to succeed), tech is infiltrating all aspects of people’s lives to the point that attention and circadian rhythms are fucked, prices are increasing, and people are being told the future is going to be worse and the ones whose jobs are to improve it are out to destroy them. And now we’ve got people sitting home twiddling their thumbs in solitary confinement.
if someone intentionally designed a system to progressively wear people down, they couldn’t do it much more efficiently.
Edit: This became a pity party, so end this on a slightly positive note ...a friend in my congregation made a point the other day that the thing that is hardest for people is long periods of time filled with nothing. it’s the reason active torture and persecution doesn’t tend to break people - because if you have actual opposition you have an outlet to fixate on.
So to keep strong, find something to put your energy towards and make it a regular routine to improve yourself.
