I love and respect true artistic vision. Even when it doesn't work, you can see intent and passion. At least it's unique.

In the original story, no one cheated Spider-man out of his money, he was just more interested in providing for himself and his family, society be damned. His big lesson was that sometimes if you have been given amazing power, you have the responsibility to use it to help others. Hell, Peter Parker continues to use his powers to make money as a photographer taking pictures of Spider-man and supervillains, it is kind of a famous part of his character. Its kind of hard to miss this if you actually read it. Of all the things Stan Lee was, he was not a subtle writer.

To be completely pedantic, a lot of the "virtues" of monarchy and the "vices" of democracy are really a result of differing technologies. When it takes a day or two for new to arrive via horseback from the furthest reaches of the kingdom it's just a practical challenges of tech kept a limit on the King's tyranny.
