There are a few lessons to learn from all of this. The one that jumps to mind is that if you are an internet person with celebrity, minimize interaction with your fanbase.

RedLetterMedia figured this out by hardly ever interacting with their fans at all. I'm sure they converse with them on their Patreon a bit and they give nods to the comment section in their videos (including the mythos built up around Rich Evans) but otherwise they don't talk to fans, they don't try to market themselves too hard. They make their merch and their youtube vids and they sell commentaries for a single dollar on Bandcamp. And they haven't had any controversies simply because they don't give anyone a chance to have one involving them. Even with that faggot Doug from TGWTG tried to start a "feud" with them for clout, they just ignored him because they didn't care who he was. That saved them a lot of heartache in the end.
