Police respond to active shooter situation at King Soopers in Boulder - Time to Dust Off Those Gun Control Bills

Police respond to active shooter situation at King Soopers in Boulder
The Boulder Police Department is warning people to stay away from the King Soopers store at 3600 Table Mesa Drive because of an active shooter at the store.

Department officials tweeted the warning at 2:49 p.m. A public information officer was on their way to the scene. Further information was not immediately provided.

The King Soopers anchors a large shopping center in the southern part of Boulder, a few blocks from Fairview High School.

Hard to say if that's really the guy; it's obviously very possible it's not. It's a total cluster right now. I just know he was cuffed, and I'm not sure what the deal is with his being brought out in just his underwear.
It’s not unusual for the police to have people strip if they think a bomb is involved. See the innocent guy they did it to in the Boston Bomber case.
It’s also not unusual for them to cuff innocent people. See the Asian spa massacre.

And now the streamer's being detained.

I'm surprised the US haven't enacted gun control laws or try to curb down on the illegal ownership of guns after the several shootings they have had.

Just imagine how many shootings we could stop if we could enact something that judges a potential gun owner based on his character and mental state.

There are a lot of crazy dangerous people out there who don't deserve guns at all.

I hope this situation doesn't get any crazier than it already is.
And how would you do that? Give them a Buzzfeed quiz? "What kind of crazy are you?"

Gun control laws don't do anything to curb gun violence, they only make them more enticing. See: Prohibition, War on Drugs.

I do agree that we need to do better with our mentally ill population.

So there really is multiple shooters this time?
I still doubt it. Very, very rarely is there multiple spree shooters during one event. Columbine is one of the only honest ones I can think of that wasn't tied to other shit like gang activity or robberies or what have you. I'll gladly eat some humble pie if I'm wrong though.

I don't think these are legitimate shooters.

I believe it's happening. Just don't think these attacks are organic. If it was a serious gta player then a mayor's office would've been burning by now considering the current political evivoment

Not these targets of insignificance

This doesn't look planned. He started shooting people in the parking lot and then went inside and shot more people. If you've got two people, you have a plan.

They announced a Code 4, so it sounds like the SWAT situation is over. They think they found the guy's car, and they're talking about a car that has a rifle case and magazines in it. Not sure if it's the same one.

Fuck, why are mass or "postal" type shooters ALWAYS white?

People need to behave now more than ever because right now they're just looking for as many ways as they can to say white people and guns are evil.

So I take he's likely been arrested or taken out already, and the police are sorting through the crime scene?

Boulder is a seriously retarded hyperliberal town. They really think bans and laws and punitive taxes will stop criminals from entering their special elitist bubble and they can legislate people into not being murderous freaks. Most people who live there are wealthy, spineless academic betas who think guns are evil and useless; this incident was like shooting fish in a barrel.
Powerlevel: I grew up in a neighboring town to Boulder (back then it was the conservative overreaction to the "Berkeley of the Rockies", now it's just Berkeley b/c of all the damned Californians invading).
My favorite "Boulder is retarded" story is when the city forced the county to illegalize shooting prairie dogs, and foisted a vacuuming system on ranchers to deal with it instead. Instead of fixing the problem or dealing with it more humanely, this created a natural selection for the wild prairie dogs to be smart enough to tunnel deeper to avoid the vacuum, meaning the wild population got wilier and more obnoxious and the relocated varmits got dumber and dumber.
I fucking hate that town and even though this is a King Soopers (meaning the worst Boulderites wouldn't be caught dead inside it), I have little sympathy for the victims.

This could just be a sleepy town going all out on stopping this, but this seems like a lot of manpower for one guy.
Eh. If there are multiple victims and it’s a public place, mass shooting event, it looks pretty normal. They’ll send a lot and pull them once the scene is secured. Especially if the officer down part is accurate. Until they verify the shooter and that the scene is secure, everyone will show up. Good for the cameras, good for funding.
