This has basically been the case since the site started. /r/jailbait used to be one of the bigger communities on there and it was only removed after complaints from journalists. Most of the ordinary users nowadays are strongly opposed to paedophilia because the site's demographic has diversified out of the creepy 4chan-lite types it was at first, but the core administrators and staff have always had a disturbing tolerance for it. Bestiality used to be allowed on there too until it was removed a few years ago as the site attracted a more mainstream audience who actually understood how vile that was.
They are still extremely left wing. They just don’t play the socialist talking points as brazenly, but the toxic identity politics part is still very much their priority. They are quite happy with these new and old anti free speech bills. All those extremely “woke” people in the party from Corbyn have not left. They bend the knee to troon and blm talking points, I know that shit seems normal at this point but it isn’t. There’s a reason why so many on Reddit voted labour, those people aren’t centrists, they’re left wing nuts and labour speaks to them.
This is so completely misleading that the small truths to it are rendered untrue by the chosen narrative framing.

There's a big difference here though. The previous mass protests were about stuff that was unpalatable to the general public. "Reddit is protesting that their forum where they bully fat people got banned? How terrible that they're like this. I'm glad the people who run reddit took a stand."
