I remember being on reddit back when SRD wasn't a tranny sub (about 2011-2014?), people would have no problem pointing out parts of reddit they believed to be infested with pedophiles. The mentally of the time was "we aren't a reddit army fuck off and grab the popcorn", "lol stop being mad about reddit eat popcorn", "don't pozload my negholep" and "the rest of reddit exists for our amusement and mockery"
It got more and more SJW themed in those few years until everyone on there became MATI and old posters got pushed off for not having ideologically pure opinions. Part of this is that they got an influx of SRS (shit reddit says) posters, which at the time had proto-TRA feminists who were of the opinion "all masculinity is toxic" and "OMG A GUY WEARING A DRESS YESSSS SLAY THE PATRIARCHY". The proto-TRA feminists would start posing on SRD more and more instead of just their home base of SRS. The mentality of SRS was "Expose the ideologically impure on reddit. We are better than them and wish we could shame the undelighted out of existence. Don't pozload my negholep, but if they mysteriously get downvotes and hate mail whenever we link to reddit posts we don't like then LOL HAHA DID U CONSIDER MAYBE YOU WERE JUST TOXIC??"
I remember seeing a screenshot from a SRS IRC or something disusing exactly how reddit will flag you for brigading and how they detect alt accounts. I feel like on the down low half of SRS users back then had a brigading account or were otherwise pulling a Unidan. You can kind of sense it in the whole "punching up" and "us vs them" attitude they had. The term "punching up" was one of their favorites, and it was my first exposure to what is known as the "progressive stack". They would argue that you could be as awful as you wanted to straight white males as a group because you were "punching up" to the people who are in power and oppressing everyone. I'm sure they were (and are, because they are probably still around just worse) using this to ethically justify downvoting with alts.

He got banned and everyone panics, blaming a girl he was arguing with at the time, but it turns out that the golden boy of reddit got caught sockpuppeting all his posts to give himself an instant karma boost. To me this represents a time when the atmosphere of reddit somehow changed, and a lot of people became keenly aware that reddit is a rigged game when before it was just suspicions unproved by anything major. The fall of Unidan was something any regular reddit user noticed, and there was some naïve optimism for reddit that just wasn't there after that.
Due to how karma psychology works it became downvote hell in SRD to have say... the wrong gamergate opinion, which helped snowball SJW ideology in there. The more people got MATI, the more the subreddit became a toxic puss pit as it attracted more and more redditors who use online moral crusading as some kind of ethics band-aid for personal failings.
Trannies were not yet common thing, they were there, but still in the background. Not a rallying issue. Everything was about the gays instead. I think a lot of people involved, particularly male feminists, had not trooned out yet at that point. I had already deleted my reddit by 2016, but a friend told me that there was a "mass troonening event" where male feminists relating to the SRS, SRD, and associated private subreddits were going on HRT left and right.
It was around 2015 that I felt like SRD began to discuss pedophiles... a lot. I found it odd at the time. Especially when pedophiles had no relevancy to the discussion at hand. Consensus began to draw a caricature of the dumbass foaming at the mouth redditor that sees pedophiles and child sexualization everywhere. (This is because he is a pedophile himself obviously. Just like how people who obsess over gays are all gay. Obviously.)
At that point it was nothing like the subreddit I joined and I only showed up when I thought drama was happening on reddit. I believe I visited there for the last time before the end of 2015.
Sometimes when KF discusses reddit it feels like OG SRD before it became completely corrupted beyond recognition. So many things that SRD actively suppresses, the OG SRD would have salivated over documenting. Ultimately the original SRD was probably doomed due to being on the same platform as their popcorn source, and due to the "circlejerk" nature of the karma system.
SRD extra doomed themselves when they allowed the tophat spirit to overtake them and turn them into a justice subreddit instead of a reddit documentation subreddit.
I am kinda one by default because i am a woman who believes such extremely controversial things as "biological sex is real,' "sexualizing childhood is really fucking gross" and "you do not get to redefine my sexual orientation to include yourself." Kinda didn't really fit in anywhere else.
I don't ascribe to all their views and I think they can have just as big of a pointless victim complex as any other group, which I don't find particularly useful for the "getting shit done" department. (See also: ovarit posters sulking that a teenage boy started SuperStraight and "THOSE MEN DON'T HAVE OUR INTERESTS AT HEART!") I most definitely see the need to build coalitions to stop this gender bullshit. Even if we agree on absolutely nothing else, let me link arms with those evil cis white men who don't want sex pests in the bathroom with their daughters and the gay guys at the bathhouse, and the based grandmas of Arkansas and the Sikh women who don't want to wax Yaniv's balls and Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and the goddamned pope on this single but enormously important issue uniting us, and then we can all celebrate a job well done and go our separate ways again.
TERFs themselves are alright in a vacuum, they suffer similar fates to the rest of us who dare to deny the new order of things.

How much of it was just very lame 'edgy' or cultural elite type stuff(as in Netflix Cuties and the poor working slob being not able to appreciate it) or actual acts that went beyond got almost immediately dwarfed by the usual retards on the Right who kept trying to outdo each other. And before long they had started to claim there was a global conspiracy to traffic kidnapped children for the sexual use by government officials and all of Hollywood.

The Challenor case has only resulted in a firing because it is so egregious and already part of the public record that the normal attempts at shutting down the attacks just weren't going to work.

Takes me back to the days of TiA and shitting on Laurelai, the war between rLGBT and r/ainbow, all that good stuff. I can't believe I'd ever admit this but reddit was pretty fun for a few years about a decade ago.

I view that movement the same as MGTOW stuff because they both suffer from the same problems. Some parts are a-ok, some parts are just shitty.
Both have some arguments that are perfectly valid i.e. "Its not okay that deranged men are entering the womens bathroom and are nearly killing them in boxing matches" or "Its not okay that male victims of domestic abuse have pretty much no kind of help or support from the public while women in the same situation have giant support networks".
With both points, im 100% open to having a discussion about what we can do to change that and make life a little better. Perfectly fair and rational arguments clearly aiming at improving the lives of men/women, not gaining some kind of retarded gender-supremacy.
Sadly though, both movements also attract the kinda person i would call "highly irrational after being emotionally damaged".
These tend to be men that marry because their dick said yes and women that think they can "fix" Jonnys meth problem with love.
These relationships tend to become and end so toxic, that after two or three failed marriages, the TERF/MGTOW bad apples start projecting the hatred for their ex(es) onto the entire sex said exes belong to, leading to a whole heap of insane generalizations of the "All men are pigs/All women are whores" kind. This shit is not only nuts, but also sadly common enough to turn both movements into "eh" territory, because its just not being called out nearly reliably enough.
People like this need to be told that "No, even your 3rd marriage failing catastrophically does not mean they are all awful people. It means you suck at picking partners".
So yeah, altogether "eh/depends" territory. The difference from one member of the movement to another is big enough that i cant say i fully support or oppose the "TERFs".
