Rounding up a village's kids and forcing them to either be child soldiers or get shot on the spot. Massive labor camps were undesirables are worked to death. An ethnic group's territory being mercilessly bombed for decades. Gas chambers, digging your own grave and then getting your brains blown out, forced sterilizations, crematoriums to burn the dead after looting their corpses for valuables...THOSE are things that can be called genocide.
It's disgusting when that word is bandied about so casually. A lot of "victim" groups love to do it, and unless someone's being murdered, they have no right to do so. Giving a kid a cochlear implant so they can hear oncoming traffic is not genocide against the Deaf. Special education, as opposed to just chucking a retard in a normal classroom and wasting everyone's time (including their own) is not genocide against the autistic. And making an angsty idiot teen have to be a legal adult before they can irreparably alter their body is not genocide against trans people...whose legitimate numbers are probably a fiftieth or less of the self-professed "trans community" - sorry, you aren't trans if you've comfortably lived and identified as a man for several decades...those people know something's wrong since birth, not after exposure to Twitch and Youtube.
For fuck's sake, it's not even a case of not allowing them to transition, it's preventing minors from doing irreversible, life-altering change to their bodies until they reach an age of legal accountability and (hopefully) more wisdom. I remember how stupid I was as a teenager, and I'm glad I didn't have to carry the mistakes I made back then for the rest of my life. Personally, I think the decision (for what is ultimately a non-life-threatening condition that requires a series of surgeries) belongs to the doctor, not the patient, and they should be able to deny you treatment at their discretion...if your abnormal hormonal and/or mental conditions are really THAT bad, then maybe you're not in the best state of mind to make an informed decision.
People can disagree on specifics, but calling things like this "genocide" is a fucking insult to the actual darkest chapters of history. It's like converting to Judaism and then going up to a Holocaust survivor and saying "oy vey, our struggle never ends". Despicable. I have very little regard for the people who generally make these laws, but I'd take a hundred of them over one self-absorbed little shit like Jim.
