Also, the new species has been revealed. Revealeons. I'm not really enthusiastic about those. And their traits kind of reminded me of Masked Owls.

...One of them is literally just a bunch of grapes with stubby legs, a tail, and wings or something??? I'm so confused. How is this character design? It's like she spun a roulette with a base plant or whatever on it and then slapped some random squiggles/appendages on it.

Surprisingly Exty was the one who created the grapes. Whatever creative juice he has is slowly being tainted by PK.

Since we're talking about species, let's go back to the Beholders. One thing that had jumped at me was that they have no bones. So what, do they have magic-infused cartilage or something as a endoskeleton to keep their natural shape??? Of course, like with Min's "aquaphobia", we never see this in action in the actual comic with Orobas.

I won't be surprised if the Masked Owls actually run Owel (the main continent) in secrecy. Like the Illuminati...maybe.

There's only so much you can do when you are trying to make a font based on someone who writes like a 3rd grader. Why she takes the time to write out something that can be typed out in a shorter time span is beyond me.

Like Sakimichan, the currently popular artist on deviantart, for example. But then again, who am I kidding PK is the final authority on all things art.

It's funny, because PK made that call out post saying people aren't just good or evil, but they write characters like that all the time for no reason for it, and seem to believe some people are just bad/evil. Often because they said so.

In fact, often their good characters exhibit evil traits with no redemption, but it's fine there. Or characters meant to be anti-heroes are just flat out villains no buts (anti-heroes are hard to write in general, and a lot of people mess up on them). But we're just told what alignment they are or how to feel about them and that's that. Or because they're too powerful for retribution or something.

I hate GIMP. Like so much, I find the program so awkward to use, it crashes on me a ton. And it's page menus are terrible. But I'd never say the program is bad, and I know a ton of people who can do amazing things with it. PK doesn't understand this.

I just think if PK thinks they can't get something to work no one can (after all they criticize anything that doesn't fit their narrow view).

Oh so, so this. I tend to hate informed goodness and all that. It's often the easiest way to make someone hate a character.

Thing is, when you have a character you won't stop saying is good do horrible things, that tends to have the total opposite effect. Especially when you also have characters you'll insist to high heaven are the scum of the earth... when they're not even nearly as bad as your perfect little cinnamon roll. I could give a good example or few but it'd likely take a few paragraphs and isn't really Floraverse related...

It's generally why I much prefer "grey vs grey" as a conflict, when neither side is truly right.

I remember when I didn't really know anything about PK or even look at her art very much, but something about her behaviour made me uncomfortable and I couldn't put my finger on it. It was only when I saw the post in question (which struck me as surprisingly wise) that I was reassured I was just being silly and she clearly wasn't all that bad.

Then I read this fucking thread.

For someone who seems to believe that people aren't strictly good or bad and are in fact actual people whose multifacted personalities have been shaped by their experiences, it sure doesn't sound like she can write a decent character according to her own damn rules. Not to mention that she herself seems perfectly fine with bullying and badmouthing anyone she thinks of as "bad." So what the fuck, PK.


I haven't read her comic yet, but I intend to later in the week when I have some time. It sounds like an absolute shitshow.

If anything the picture on the right looks better. Those neon rainbow colors are bordering on painful to the eyes. Photoshop is trying to do PK and her readers a favor.

I also remember way back when I knew who PK was, but not how she acted. Now I'm really glad I never got too deeply into her art or fanbase. Keeping up with this thread these past couple weeks has been not only entertaining, but also informative. I'll be contributing what I can to discussion now that I have an account to do so with.

@MayMay you actually reminded me that I need to finish up Tokyo Ghoul. It's the most recent example of a work where both sides can be sympathized with I've read.

To me it looks like the differences are due to the fact that PS can't read the layers she uses on SAI. At least, that's the kind of effect I get when I try to export from Corel to Photoshop and vice versa, and there is no correspondence between the kinds of layers. Pretty sure this wouldn't happen if she painted all in one layer. Although the choice is hers and I won't hold that against her, she shouldn't be surprised that the two programs have incompatible layer modes.

Btw @SlurpleSpeckleon I noticed you asked this before: between Min and Cress, Min is the self-insert. She doesn't seem like one too much, but PK did say that she connected to Min a lot and if I remember correctly she said something like Min represented her naive childlike side or whatever.

Ah, PK finally sees the folly of using eye-searing colors in her comic to try use CMYK. It can be iffy if you're not careful of which colors you use, which PK hasn't. CMYK hates bright colors like light pastel purple and mint greens so they end up duller on paper. And what Hazazel said.

PK should fucking know this since she sells art prints.

ETA: Oh, it's the printing company that is using a certain old CMYK color profile. Of course it's not her fucking fault that she chose to use CMYK sensitive colors. It's the evil printing company's!!!1

If PK really wants to keep her pretty fluorescent colors, she could shell out some more money for "spot colors" or whatever but that will make the book printing way more expensive.

fyi and a little powerlevel, looking at PK's colors while on post-surgery pain meds is nauseating. Like BAAAARF.

I've been keeping tabs on this thread while being pretty out of it-- so far I've come to the following conclusions

-something about all of three of those assholes sleeping with exty is gross. I have nothing against poly amorous things but those people are gross.

-Marl raised PK. He groomed her. PK has never been out of 'child mode'. Marl probably built her up saying she was 'more talented than everyone else' and entitled to everything because of her abusive childhood. PK still acts basically like she did when she was 16.

-Those logs when PK was bitching about Marl/Eevee cheating on her were hideous. When she was doing the "WAAAAH *mockery here*" shit, my soul shivered from embarrassment. She was doing that even to people who were kissing her ass and trying to comfort her. Again: PK is a child. Her mentality is stunted. Also PK uses too many crybaby jokes to insult people. Again, like a child.

-She should not be using SAI as a default coloring program if she's professionally printing shit. She has been warned about SAI before-- I need to find the post, but what basically happened was PK complained that SAI was crashing on her whenever she used a massive palette-- other professionals gave her advice and she bitched at them even though she posted about it. They advised her to either switch back to PS or other programs. She was pissed of course, because she is the Art Queen/Queen of Arts how dare you question her.
SAI a good brushy program, but buggy as hell and barely compatible with anything. She was warned about this shit and didn't listen.
edit: Also I though SAI was notorious for NOT having a CMYK mode?? Why would she think she could convert that?

I actually use GIMP for most of my works. GIMP is kinda difficult to use in the beginning, and sometimes the program just wants to stop responding/make a button unusable forcing me to restart it, but I like it and I've managed to work with it. When I tried PS, I thought I wouldn't be able to use it at all, but after spending some time mucking around I learned how to use that too (great for touch-ups).
