Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

This woman is a prime example of why psychiatric asylums being shut down is a huge problem. She needs to be put under temporary hold where they can modulate her off various drugs and figure out her real issues. It sounds, as others have noted, it's a nasty mix of amphetamine psychosis (up at 3 am posting angrily about the world and your body being out to get you?), opioid use and withdrawals, benzo use, and various allergy med interactions (and God knows what all those other pills do) combine together to turn this woman's life into a miserable mess. Throw in BPD and munchie behaviours, and you get a quivering mess of a human being. I doubt social isolation has been very kind to her either.

Psychiatric wards still exist, it's just pretty hard (and with damn good reason, too, because those places are hellholes) to hold people there against their will if they're not in immediate danger of hurting themself or other people. Some druggie getting mad isn't, in and of itself, a psych issue, and a stay in a psych ward wouldn't necessarily fix her even if it came with a detox.

The bigger issue is a lack of awareness, research, and standard protocol for dealing with munchies - especially these new internet munchies who are a different breed from years before. Aided and abbetted, of course, by an extremely fragmented care system that makes it easy to hide stuff you're doing with one doctor from another, and a for-pay system where you can functionally buy drugs from a doctor if you're rich enough and doctor-shop hard enough. For a lot of these munchies, you'd need joined-up addiction services, some (extremely complicated, probably, because "personality" disorders, which Munchausens seems to most closely resemble, are notoriously intractable) psychiatric care, and a waterproof medical system to catch them and also make sure they can't reoffend.

Personally I think she might have Munchied herself into being a hypochondriac at some point, but either way there’s a vicious mood/personality/both disorder in there too that makes her treat other people like shit and she refuses to address it so no sympathy. And the histrionics. Apologize if there are repeats but there’s so much and she’s so repetitive (with some fun variations)

It's interesting to me that in all their bitching about rare diseases being underfunded and poorly understood, they fail to realize that they, as munchies, are among the rarest and least understood patients any doctor might encounter. She's on Adderall and a couple of other meds that might have a psychiatric prescriber

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but she's on the classic "you're refusing psych meds so we'll call these pain meds if that means you'll take it" cocktail. Gabapentin and amitriptyline are both prescribed by psych. The only things she's missing are trazadone and hydroxyzine to complete the "it's not psych but my psych doctor prescribed all of it" bingo card.

But I'd wager my life savings the addy is from a PCP across state lines who has no idea about her other doctors.

If munchies actually post on this forum, they're found out rather quick as they all have this one nasty habit.

They can't stop talking about themselves. Literally, just as much as they need oxygen, they need attention or some come uppance about themselves because they're generally very miserable. This isn't like Illness Fakers, this place isn't really a hugbox.

Here's a rundown on Samantha/ witchwithtics on Tik Tok. I've never done a post on here like this so bear with me. Photos will be under the spoiler and I'll also include links because there are so many videos that it's overwhelming to save them all. I am open to saving them but assume there's an easier way to compile them than just throwing them in here?

Samantha lives in AB, Canada, with her boyfriend and daughter from a previous relationship. She has a strained relationship with her father and claims her mother was married to a man who sexually assaulted her for an extended period of time. She has an extensive history of abuse by multiple people.

Her mental health claims are Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Social Anxiety, PPD, ADHD, “Possible seizure activity” Sleep disorder, former eating disorder, and a briefly mentioned sensory disorder. Her Tourette's manifests as coprolalia, self injury, and body spasms. She also throws shit all over the kitchen which annoys me.

Her TikTok started around spring of last year and did not display tics. She then began speaking about being undiagnosed and how it takes a long time to get a diagnosis. She was diagnosed with Tourette's on Dec 8 of 2020.

Samantha is largely accused of copying another tik toker who has the same tics (thistrippyhippie) and is widely believed to be genuine.
