OHIO: Amid rising incident of rising hate crimes in the United States, a video of an Asian-American former military veteran showing his battle scars and asking if this was enough proof of his "patriotism" in a town hall meeting in Ohio has gone viral on the social media.

69-year-old Lee Wong, who has served the US military for nearly 20 years, has been receiving arm applauds from all over the world for making a bold statement and raising the problem of racial discrimination being faced by Asian-Americans recently. It may be recalled that six Asian women were killed in Atlanta alongside two other victims in rising hate crimes last week.

In the United States, thousands of Asian-Americans have reported violent attacks or hate crimes in recent months, often linked to rhetoric that blames Asian people for the spread of Covid-19.

Wong, who is an elected official in West Chester, Ohio, unbutton his shirt to show his battle scars and asked, "I'm going to show you what questions about patriotism look like."

He did this while addressing a meeting about the racism he has faced as an Asian person. According to the viral video, Wong stood up and lifted his vest, showing large scars on his chest to colleagues in the hall.

"Here is my proof. This is sustained in my service in the US military. Is this patriot enough?" he asked.

During his interaction with the gathering there, he regretted that people have questioned his loyalty to the US and suggested he did not "look American enough".

Wong had moved to the US in the late 1960s. He served the US Army for nearly 20 years and is now chair of the West Chester board of trustees after first being elected in 2005.

In an interview with Fox News, he had revealed that he had been physically attacked as well as verbally abused.

Nicely done. :semperfidelis:

So, there's a couple West Chesters in Ohio, but this sounds like the one in my neck of the woods, and I'm going to be honest with you, any claims about Racism are probably bullshit. See, the West Chester north of Cincinnati is an upper middle class to wealthy area, it's a very nice area. It also has a relatively heavy Asian population, especially Japanese. This is because the area around West Chester is full of manufacturing, Cincinnati actually has a ton of manufacturing around it, but there's some Japanese owned companies with manufacturing plants there, most notably Iwata Bolt has a plant right on the edge of West Chester.

On the other hand, there's also a lot of warehouses and food processing businesses in the area as well and a lot population of blacks and hispanics that work there, so it's possible he may have gotten harassed by them. It's not exactly a center of white racism. He's also running for what sounds like a state senate seat so political stunts should be expected. The only racism I've ever seen in the region is usually towards ghetto blacks, most of the Hispanic and Asian population are well established communities and actually a pretty diverse mix. It's just very spread out, this isn't really an area you'd do a lot of walking in and the areas you would are all pretty much Upper Middle Class white.

lol not impressed.

Also, assuming he's not full of shit, he can get his yellow ass in line behind the literal millions of white veterans who got fucked up by uncle Schlomo's wars and are currently being treated like absolute dogshit for having fought for a country which, in its official stances condemn them for advocating for their own race like what he's doing.

Asians: "So now will you stop robbing and murdering us?"

Niggers: "Sheeeeeeeit"

Bingo.

I appreciate his candor, but surely a man of his stature understands that his time in service was spent being governed by crony politicians who never have had his interests at heart, but instead, was used as a bludgeon to further sustain the tribe's agenda.

It's not that I am against military folk as a whole, it's just that they too have been severely brainwashed into fighting the tribe's wars for them and then they come to the sudden realization that they've been played like a fiddle, much like the rest of the population. "Fuck man, I've bled for this country and you're telling me that you can't provide safety and comfort for my grandchildren because of what some fuckhead blogger said on twidder?".

A soldier fights for his country and FAMILY first and foremost, for the overall betterment of his children and his children's children, not to become cannon fodder in service of the tribe's geopolitical position, only to come back and realize that he didn't change things for the better for anyone around him, or himself.

War, as he knows, is an extension of politics by different means. In other words, political ends govern the exertions of war. Or, the military are the means by which to gain political goals. The political leaders establish the objectives, the military men seek to attain them. Now, whose politics did he fight for? that's what he should be wondering.

I am a veteran and veterans still baffle me. You have a group of people who at the very least get a first-hand view of the system being fucked up, and they do fully acknowledge it (if you ever pull guard, staff duty, or CQ this is going to be most of the discussion), but they'll still act to maintain the status quo of said system.

A soldier's dilemma - they're there to preserve democracy*, not to practice it.

* or the illusion of it.

That's not a dilemma for current soldiers, or at least decent ones.

The real questioning always comes afterwards.

Is literally anyone fooled by this? Even fucking reddit isn't buying it.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a deliberate astroturfing campaign by the Chinese government to try and shift the blame for the plague that they caused onto America and labelling any criticism of the CCP racism.

Like this stop Asian hate shit came out of NOWHERE and now everyone's talking about it like it's always been a major problem that everyone knows about. It feels coordinated and planned.
