General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

None of these streamers is failing in the monetary sense of achieving a livelihood. But my heart aches, no it retches at the idea that each superchat is also financing Susan Wocjshitty's retarded empire of lies. How I wish they'd find a way to circumvent youtube as a donation system.

streamlabs, although knowing youtube they'll probably find a way to force you to use the superchat function. When it works, it work wonders though. Case in point:

Coco already tried to get Hololive to adopt Streamlabs, even going as far as to make a commercial featuring a few Hololive members.

She later mentioned that Cover thought it was against their best interest since they were worried that it might be viewed as them burning bridges with YouTube. The only reason ID uses it is because people in Indonesia can't really donate otherwise, unless they use a VPN.

I can't imagine the hell of trying to convince a japanese company that no, youtube does not build any bridges unless you are a Big Corporation With Money (think Procter&Gamble, Disney or Walmart) and they'll fuck you over in the ass within a fraction of a heartbeat if they saw the profit from it.

I think her numberfagging is pretty understandable. You should consider though that their earlier(gen0-gen1) days in hololive wasn't really rainbow and flowers. Hololive brand was not yet established. She did mention aswell that they get almost nothing from youtube early on. And she did have a hiatus because of an accident not to mention her channel got demonitize. She debuted june 7 2018 on YT and she achieved 100k in march 26 2020. New hololive talents that debuts now gets 100k even before they debut.
To add insult to injury her Bday stream was fucked over by Youtube.

Watame calling in into Cali birthday stream singing Happy Birthday with a tambourine was something i never knew i needed. That was cute af

EDIT: OH HELL YEAH KORONE DOING HER BEST IN ENGLISH, SO SWEET
Watame is probably top 3 when it comes to cuteness.

Hold up is this the first time A-chan has ever called in for a Birthday stream? Fuck her English is really good, genuinely impressive. Don't know who else can pop in the call and top that, I've never heard management pop into one before.
A-chan is great. I think she has called others but probably like once or twice.

my fucking ears.. fucking hell Ollie.. fuck
Your ears just got blessed by the underworld shrieks.

For you and for anyone else. This is the clip in question that blew up on reddit massively and effectively jumpstarted her all over again. I know it's this one as she has commented on it expressing her thanks.

Its the clip that got her on my radar. Before that I only knew her by name and what her model looked like.

I feel ya.

And if you think of the sheer amount of money they're losing it's even more depressing. Their two top earners alone are shitting over 600k to YouTube a year. Imagine if they were able to spend even some of that on speeding up L2D iterations for members or just improving H3D in general.

Members like Korone, Coco and Watame (and a few others) bought all the requirements and barely ever use their 3d because it's so lacking in comparison to what they're capable of on stage or in the studio (talking purely expressions, not body tracking). I think the only one who's used it fairly recently is Watame. I think mainly during her Smash Bro's streams.

Honestly, Cover and YouTube can both suck my dick on the monetization topic. I'm not working for free when the fucking Yootoob AI decides my model's cleavage is haram. And i don't care if they think I'm burning a bridge-- i'd rather think of it like playing Chicken. Either Susan gives me my fucking monetization back, or i'm gaming the system, cuz fuck her.

Damn, this shit's fire + the shade against envytubers ("I'll pretend all my antis are just little kids")

edit: GUH means Give Up Haters, apparently

Looks like the entire EP is on YouTube now (except for the CD exclusive track). Her flow is way better on the 1st track ("The Grim Reaper is a Live-Streamer") compared to the one she posted on her channel ("Red", which is probably the most "radio-friendly" sounding track). "GUH" and "Bully" are pretty strong tracks and are a remixer's dream though.

All in all, I think this one's a better EP compared to her release after her debut. It's not her Demondice sound (which is a shame) but there's more technical stuff here that she's able to flex and expound on for future releases.

Can't they get a subsidiary (hope that's the right word) to work on just shipping their merch overseas, like, say J-List or something?

They could/should, but given that EN is still pretty much a pilot program for Cover insofar as serving a primarily western audience, I'm pretty sure they're using the current merch movement for Gen1 for data and they'll then use that to dictate their western merch approach moving forward. Which would be fine except that it's a frustrating chicken-egg issue as the current set-up is likely depressing sales due to how frustrating/cumbersome it is for most of their Amazon-enabled western audience.

I think the conclusion that was alluded to is that whatever algorithm advantage they get from having so many top superchat earners is worth more to them than the extra cut they'd get from having a bigger piece of the pie from Streamlabs.

Whether that's true or not (because frankly, fuck YouTube) remains to be seen.

Wow, how many companies would wish for half of a "pilot program" such as EN gen1.

You'd think most companies would try to milk the fuck out of their newfound cow asap. But... we know Cover is not like most companies.
But, credit where credit is due, they did make the walfie 2d models for EN. And that kinda counts as an outfit, 6ish months after debut.

So, that's a neat coincidence. Go tako, reach for the stars.

Someone translated all the calls in Ririmu 200k celebration stream where Kou and Kuzuha piloting her converstation. Put some real effort into editing too. Despite using the somewhat clickbait tilte "full movie" while not actually translating the whole stream, I respect it. The bit between was also funny, but the highlights and the demands were the calls anyways.

Haachama's time traveling close to 5th gen debut is clearly a story arc to rescue Aloe with the help of Amelia.
Sadly she skipped over the debut day's content. It would be pretty cool if she did something for it, but it's probably hard to arrange something without coming across as insensitive. Plus the cooperation from other members that such a crossover would need.
Some absolute madlad found a star and named it in honor of Calli

Next step finding a galaxy
Imagine being an interstellar colonist in the far future and finding out that your entire solar system was named after a weeaboo wigger rapper 3 millennia ago.

That's legit? Does it have any value? Or is it like those "buy a parcel on the moon" things or NFTs?
Is legit but not the discovery part (that was a brain fart on my part), you pay to name a star and is registered under that name in the books so if we get any astral charts in the 40k millenium the name of Calli will appear when someone fly near the Aries constellation is not that expensive like 50 bucks

giving the guy asspats for buying a fucking star.
Named it, not buy it

No value, basically as legit as buying an "English Title of Nobility". Not technically illegal (they make no mention of official recognition on their website), but all the names are only recognized by the company that sells them, not any international agencies like the International Astronomical Union, scientists or governments. If anything interesting ever happens with that star, the bought name is not going to be in the news. It still has a nice factor of being able to search out the star that you "bought" on the night sky with the maps they provide, but you could do that with any other datasource for free, just without a nice-looking certificate.
