About the BL doujin author's hissy fit: from what I understand, the author has watched a clip taken out of context. Japanese is a contextual language, where the same word can have different meaning(s) depending on the context (that's why they are still using kanji so the text will show the correct meaning), but even if it wasn't the case, the first thing the author should do is to check the original source. A smart artist would even try to use the free publicity to promote his/her works, but it's too late now: Cover did a dogeza thing to get free of all possible accusations, but it only pissed off fans even more (imagine the next episode of your favourite show won't be airing because someone on social media got offended over a clip taken out of context). I think it won't end that easily, at least not for the BL doujin author.
In other news: there was an interview with "HoloEN producer". Seems legit, as it was retweeted by Holo EN official account.
Interview with the Producer of the All-Girl VTuber Group hololive English
grapee.jp
Bits I found to be interesting:
- the manager worked on translations, but suggested creating a HoloEN branch to Yagoo (is this interview with Coco?

)
- they never expected such popularity of HoloEN and engagement from people not interested in vtubers before (no shit)
- Kiara throwing in Japanese sentences and having songs in Japanese is intentional, as they want to cater to both Japanese and English-speaking audiences, the manager mentions that some viewers use the streams to learn a language (I have learned so many questionable phrases from Marine and Kagura Mea)
- they want to do more collabs similar to Trash Taste (Haachama as a guest on Mad at the Internet when)
- their plan of HoloEN expansion is already scheduled for the timespan of one year (gee I hope no random things will happen!)
- they don't want to talk about the details nor theme of the next HoloEN, but they are dropping the numbers as they don't want the fans to prioritize one group over another (guh)
- despite the "gender irrelevant" statement they said the group will be all female characters (sad troon shark noises)
- they also hope that vtubers won't be just a fad (lol)
tl;dr not much, but a fun read, hopefully there will be more of such interviews to come.
