Iirc his specific language was that 'getting those democrats into office is going to be necessary to get support to send the checks out.
As in, biden wasn't threatening to withhold the checks if people didn't vote blue, he was implying there wouldn't be enough support by lawmakers/congress to get it through. Obviously that's bullshit since they nearly didn't do it

It even goes further back to the days of political bosses. A political boss pays a bunch of micks and wops to find 10,000 votes for someone and magically enough they’re able to find it.
Fun fact, this is how Joe Kennedy was able to cinch the election for JFK in 1960 as this method of getting votes was used in Chicago and Kansas City to push Illinois and Missouri over the edge for him. Wikipedia’s “argument” against this is real interesting.

Put it this way: any time big business is in favor of more regulation, it's ALWAYS to fuck over the small businesses. Then the Democrats will claim that they were "unforseen consequences", even when the Republicans were screaming in their ears for months. AKA minimum wage increases. When people lose hours at work, or just get outright laid off, or small businesses close because they can't afford to pay people, the Democrats will feign ignorance or just claim that small businesses that "can't afford to pay living wages" should be shut down anyway.

It boils down to zealous consumers.
Most centrist/right-wing consumers are willing to consume product even if the company does not reflect their values.
This is not true of people on the left. They actually will not consume product they do not think is aligned with their values.
Combine this with educational capture by the left, meaning nearly all elites are socially left-wing, and this creates the current situation.

Most of these companies also backed BLM I guess. Honestly, to get any of these companies to change their mind, their bottom end would have to be hit really badly. And I don't think every GOP memeber going all Galt's Gulch wouldn't do that. Even if every GOP voting person said fuck this and let to form their own community, Biden would just send the military after them because reasons.
