Last week, they were promoting black speedrunners - cool. This week, they ran an article on "Four women in Speedrunning". Awesome - this is a super male-dominated hobby so I can't wait to check out these four female speedrunners and show some support!

Now, it's 2021 of course, so I fully expect one of these lovely ladies to probably be trans. Just being realistic here - in a community famous for its trans demographic + they want to push an agenda of "trans women are women" means they will definitely put one TiM out of four in here. Let's take a look.

That might be the first time the speedrunners were so blatant about it though; when they had 'girl runner' events in the past, they usually had (lol) 1 or 2 token bio-girl runners. Surely, surely, they would have at least one actual chick in the article? They are beyond parody at this point.

There is no reason for them to anymore. They have highest-level protections on basically any platform and anyone who would dare to point out that there aren't actual women in the article would basically be saying trans women aren't EXACTLY THE SAME as real women, which is heresy and means you're literally genociding people. They've done a good job of ensuring that any sort of reasonable or sane reaction to their degeneracy can be turned into VIOLENCE and BIGOTRY with but a single angry twitter post.

i didn't even know speedrun.com had gotten bought out, i guess i'm just perpetually out of the loop no matter how hard i try, so i dug a little to see what was up - here's the original post where the old site admin admits they sold out to some literally who "competitive gamer data analytics" startup company named elo entertainment, that apparently runs a few sites that i've never heard of for shitty games like dota

i couldn't find a single fucking thing on speedrun.com itself that explicitly states the site is owned and operated by elo now, i had to go to their twitter for that one, so i said fuck it and ended up digging up elo's own website to see if i could poke fun at it:

a sterile, flat, "responsive" site layout.. globohomo humans of flat art... vague terminology about analytics and datamining and their products being "elusive to ad blockers" and "audience targeting" and tracking and empowerment and diversity... wow! i can't even begin to imagine how these people may not actually have the best interests of the speedrunning community in mind. and the icing on the cake is that they're even headquartered in fucking austin:

i wasn't expecting anything better, but regardless it sucks seeing a site that used to be community-owned (which isn't really an improvement with speedrunning, but i digress) get taken over by yet another faceless corporate interest that doesn't seem to actually care about the hobby beyond their "WE'RE EPIC GAYMERS JUST LIKE YOU" ploy. this is about as newsworthy as "there are lots of cliquish woke twitter troons involved in speedrunning! gee!", considering just how compromised gdq and sda have been for years - i guess it's just a natural part of the hobby becoming about as mainstream as it'll ever get - but it always sucks to watch a tumor metastasize in real time

now if you excuse me, i'm going to bitch about people with assburgers playing the same game over and over for e-fame so i can get 2 stickers on a containment forum for autists

Thank you for the wonderful write-up and archive.

I have no problem with trans people, but damn, one biological female could have been included or the title could have been more accurate.

I am mostly parroting your post, but this is something that gets me. I don't know how to voice my opinion in a public forum without being an asshole so I just sit silently.
