Death of Prince Philip - Dead of the Archlich

And the only people who will care are those under the rule of the queen.
Technically there's places like Canada(godforbid) still under the rule of the queen and I don't see anybody here caring that much. If anything it'll lead to "republican" sentiment in abolishing the monarchy, not that there's any likely chance that would occur.

An internet classic, furiously posting about shit you know absolutely nothing about. The British Crown Estate brings in way, way more money to the UK treasury than they get from the Sovereign Grant.
lol u got this from that cgp grey video didnt u

its been heavily criticised, nobody knows whether the monarchy is a benefit or not
I don't even give a shit about if they are a net positive to the treasury. In what world is it fair to have one single family taking lottery winning sums of money from the taxpayer every week for multiple generations, paying for palaces, luxury cars, castles, planes, butlers, chefs, gardeners, maids and drivers, from a population with no ability for the regular Joe to refuse to participate?

The majority of people are net positives to the treasury and society. If the royal family are so fucking wonderful they can run their own business, make all their own money and pay their share the same as everyone else.

The founding fathers had the right idea waving a big fucking middle finger to those parasites. The royal family should consider themselves lucky that in 1776 their entire family tree was not hung.

QRD on why folks seem to respect this dude, while dissing rest of the royal family?

The sovereign grant (ie the taxpayer grant to the royal family) in 2018 was £82 million. That same year the Queen through The Crown Estate payed £247 million directly into the UK treasury while directly employing 400+ people and indirectly generating millions more by leasing land to business and real estate. the assets under management are around £14 Billion

If the queen fucked off, took her estates with her and set up her own private management firm to run them she'd be far far wealthier.

Excellent. She should do it. Wouldn't want to hold the old dear back.

Prince Philip to the first Aboriginal member of the Australian Parliament:

'So... Do you still throw spears are each other?'
Well about that...

I think Charles would sperg out on live television if this was a successful movement. This man has been waiting to be King for 70 fucking years. Imagine the seething.
With respect to Australia, the monarchy has actually had its popularity go on an upswing in contrast to the republican movement and the young royals are only improving it.

Any other kiwis ever partake in earning the Duke of Ed's award?

The Sovereign Grant doesn't cover secruity (which is covered by the Met), policing covered by the local police force) ceremonial costs (covered by the local councils) and a host of additional expenses, plus the entire taxable income of Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall goes directly to the royal purse, the last time the grant was reviewed the cost of the monarchy per year was estimated to be between £300-£345 million, it's impossible to affix a true cost however because their true income and expenditure is shrouded in secrecy.

The problem was more with Parliament iirc. They even appealed to the King at one point, but he was the head of state so things like the Declaration of Independence addressed him instead of the Parliament, which contributed more to starting the Revolution. Plus rebellion against a 'tyrannical' king for non-representation sounds better than against another 'representative' entity.

No matter what people say about him, I bloody well loved the old blighter, wasn’t afraid to seal his mind and didn’t give a fuck on opinions or being pc. Of course it helps when you’re married to her majesty’

Damn. I hope Queen Lizzy doesn't follow anytime soon, Imo she's the last royal deserving of her title.
RIP

Think of the replacement. Leaving aside his pals like Jimmy and Bishop Ball, he is someone who meddles in matters not his concern, and somehow utterly bereft of any gravitas. Honestly handy Andy was just (semi) caught. Chaz wasn't.

The moment she dies you can expect the republican movements in the UK and in the commonwealth countries to say: We need to be a republic now! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

See above. Chaz will pretty much do their work, destroying any standing the Monarchy still has, and annoying the Great and the Good with his scrawly, cranky letters. A very traditional thing might be an enforced retirement, replacement with William and a trip to the Tower, and maybe a meeting with a pillow.
