Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

It'd only be yet another example of something the DNC pulled in a hasty grab for power that came around to fuck them in the ass, like the impoundment thing with the wall funding.
Well, they have less than 2 years now until the mid-term elections, bureaucracy takes time, and there's no guarantee that they won't lose at least one or two seats in the senate, which would put any and all talk about stacking the court to bed. Personally, I'm not optimistic about the DNC's chances at pulling this off in the time they have available.

Well, I hope you're right.

If we're going to use tax dollars to give them stimmies, we might as well just let them migrate here because at least the money will be spent here.

Manchin is the Ben Nelson of Current Year + 6. For those who don’t know or remember, Ben Nelson was the “60th vote” in the Senate in 2009 and 2010. 60 Democrats in the Senate effectively gave them a supermajority that did not require a filibuster but Ben, a conservative Democrat, often dithered about. What he was after was lots of pork barrel spending and carve outs for Nebraska. Sometimes he’d “take a stand” about dumb shit but in the end, he made sure he got his pork and his corporate buddies (insurance in particular) always won out so they could have cloture.

Ben met his end when he was up for re-election in 2012. His antics pissed off a lot of Democrats and Independents (what few there were in Nebraska lol) so rather than lose to corporate teabagger Deb Fischer, he decided not to run for another term. He went back to the insurance industry after 2012.

A mini history lesson and proving history repeats itself if not rhymes. Manchin isn’t baste or any shit like that, he just realizes he’s in the catbird seat and demands pork barrel spending and his corporate cronies are taken care of. However it usually doesn’t work out well for them in the long term. It’s very interesting how many parallels there are with Manchin and Nelson.

I still wonder if taking out earmarks was a mistake or not.

But its no surprise that Manchin would use his position to get more gibs for West Virginia.

They both wanted more diversity, here is the diversity.

NYC is already part of New York and would actually dilute its blueness if you spun it off into its own state. And the official line with DC statehood is that it's unfair for them to not be a state because of their special status giving them no actual representation in Congress. Never mind that their special status was intentionally designed that way.
You could also argue that DC already has 535 representatives.

With Biden sending the migrants to Michigan and Pennsylvania, how long do we reckon it will be until we see a red wave from the hispanic population as the sudden influx of this many migrants leads to direct contact with and exposure to the black-led crimefests that are known as Detroit, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia?

:optimistic:
All this is going to do is cause more social disturbances and chaos in the short term, which Democrats hope to capitalize on like in 2020.

I sure am glad we got rid of teh baaad oarnge maan, a roaring economy definitely wasn't worth all those rude tweets Pmurt was fond of. How wonderful that we've returned to a time of high taxes, intrusive bureaucracy, and economic malaise. 🙂

Do I even need to explain that I'm being sarcastic here?
