I was racking my brain for this particular character from Montreal by Night:
View attachment 2070637
Sebastian Goulet, 7th generation City Gangrel Antitribu
Member of an all-gay Sabbat pack, the Mattachine
Uses Dominate 5 and Presence 4 to 'seduce' straight men
I'm torn on whether or not that character concept would fly in Current Year.

On the one hand, it's rape with a side order of rape and extra rape for only $2.99 more.

On the other hand, "fuck straight men".

Oh, the Black Dog books have wonderful examples of LGBTQ rep. I remember some lovely fiction from Clanbook: Baali in particular.

In CY +6, a character who was previously as straight as a flagpole can be subjected to this:

I'm sure the Wokies would tie themselves into rhetorical knots to say that no one can be forced into homosexuality, even when some superbeing deploys their superpowers against you, so you were really gay all along and should thank them for helping you acknowledge your gayness.

Aberrant isn't WOD, but it is White Wolf. There was some character who explicitly tortured and mind-raped men into homosexuality, but I forget his name, and it was okay because the victims of said mind-rape were 'bigots' so they deserved it.

My favorite Black Dog books are Spectres and unironically Freak Legion. Just pop a few banes in those androgen blockers, a little toxin in those poppers, maybe a defective condom here and there, and you've turned your local LGBTQROFLMAOs into a breeding ground for fomori.

Of all the WoD beasties, I'd never have guessed that fomori would be the ones to turn out to be real.

The Aberrant character was some minor figure in the Queer Nova Alliance, one of the dumbest (yet somehow prescient) ideas in the Player's Guide. Kraig Blackwelder is an obscure figure, but the damage he did as Aberrant's developer was incalculable. I assume the book sold so poorly that WW just didn't care what happened to the line.

Fomori were pretty on-the-nose. Some humans will willingly turn themselves into monsters, all the Wyrm has to do is supply the means and opportunity.

Oh shit, that name is a blast from the past. Blackwelder is/was a guy who could not cope with being gay.

Which is it, buttercup? Is being gay good and wonderful? Or is it a shameful state to be inflicted on people you don't like?

Unfortunately, his contradictory homo-ness bled over into Aberrant, right down to making Divis Mal, his author avatar, a gay Nietzchean ubermensch who shut down 'good-ol'-boy Superman-insert' Caestus Pax's powers.

Thankfully, he's been out of the RPG industry since 2006.

Huh. I want to say there was a similar thing in True Blood, the vampire book series / sexy HBO vampire sex show? If I remember correctly, several of the white bigot Xtian characters got raped gay.

Maybe that's just a thing with people who like to write and consume vampire fiction? They're also interested in retribution rape?

-edit- actually, now that I think about it, even some of the good characters got raped gay in True Blood. When the good guys got raped gay, it was played for laughs; when the bad guys got raped gay, it was played for cheers and srs justice. But yeah, definitely some kind of trope going around with vampire fiction writers.

Divis Mal was set up in Trinity to be a major bad guy (he even gets an illustration in the history chapter of him smirking as he nukes the Secretary-General of the UN), but Aberrant went so over-the-top in making him the face of the setting that Blackwelder claimed that "Aberrant" referred to Mal specifically. One of the most important early adventures revolves around that fight between him and Pax, and the PCs just sort of stand around watching with their thumbs up their asses.

What's weird is that as far as I can tell, Mal was created by Andrew Bates, not Blackwelder, so I'm at a loss to explain why he was so in love with the character.

Same reason as a lot of arrogant weirdos who got ostracized/bullied who never matured and moved past it:

They want power over other people without earning it. Divis Mal, as the biggest swinging dick in Aberrant is the perfect vehicle for that.

Making him a gay power fantasy who BTFOs Superman, writes manifestos, and sits in his room brooding about how everyone else needs to be as special as he is before he will deal with them, checks off every box of the arrogant, weird, nerd wishlist who was pushed into lockers and ignored.

I think the asswipe who wrote Beckett's Jyhad Diary also said some shit about other kids bullying him because of how different and 'speshul' he was.

Zak... as near as I can tell, is guilty of nothing beyond working in a sketchy industry and running with a sketchy crowd.

Zak's a woke asshole with an affinity for punk culture and is a literal male feminist but he's a lot less awful than David Hill or most of the Onyx Path and RPG.net crowds.

Granted, he's still a total asshole since "better than RPG.net's mods and the staff at Onyx Path" is a criminally low bar to clear.

Oh, great, so he's a serial sexual assaulter. That's better than RPG.net mods and Onyx Path?

(Yes, I know it is but god damn is that one low fucking bar to clear.)

Eh, with Zak, we're not sure if he's an actual sexual assaulter or not.

His ex-gf accused him, and he fired back with counter evidence and a lawsuit. With him, it's hard to tell if he's an actual predator or is just too much of a dense wokester to stop hanging around the company of predators.

Zak's still an asshole and I'm suspicious as hell of him

Zack's antics are tangental because they're unresolved and often based on the gossip, I'm pretty confident he's genrally a cunt from people i know who've met him but notheless he in the know so I'd really like his perspective.

Bro, the Venn Diagram between male feminists and sexual attackers is a circle. He's got something lurking hidden away. Still, considering RPG.net is littered with pedos, that's still technically better.

Innocent until proven guilty! No more witch hunts!

~ is what I'd say in most situations. But Zak is a male feminist. He's obviously a rapist.

His ex-gf accused him, and he fired back with counter evidence and a lawsuit.

Believe women.

Well hot Damn, if his blog post vis a vis the David Hill nonsense gets to a hundred comments, Zak Sabbath will dish on the behind the scenes drama with V5.

GET IN HERE, RETARDS!

I love how it starts off as a damning expose of rampant sexual abuse and Gamergate-suicide-enabling at the highest levels of nerd industry, before suddenly sidetracking into sullen, "Buuhhh, nobody cares, nobody understands meeee" bs.

Maybe it's a calculated attempt to get his blog post going viral?
Maybe he's rolling the dice on some kind of weird, woke Presence ritual, hoping it will make him relevant and uncancelled?
Or maybe it's just the performative angst of a 45 year old teenager?

I'd be interested to read what he has to say, but the comments seemed to have plateaued in the early 90s right now (something something White Wolf something something WoD), so who knows?

Comments need to be approved, apparently. Convenient. If he decides to chicken out, he can just not approve past 95 or whatever and claim he didn't hit his goal.

He's probably just weeding out all the comments left by REAL VAMPIRES he worked with in the past.
