Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

I know, I can't look away. I did see one touch a hot pot lid to his head, but yeah they would never truly inure themselves, or even actually ruin what they are working on.
Do yall think this will come to some kind of head? Like main stream media picks up on it since it's so rampant right now?
I feel so bad for people with actual tics and tourettes. They're gonna get lumped in with this bunch.
To be fair there is that one fake tics woman who keeps smacking her kid around when they're trying to bake together on camera. I can imagine that escalating to genuinely injuring the kid if the child doesn't get removed soon

Just popping in to say I'm starting to wonder if MunchSnark on Reddit is going to turn into IF part 2. The hammering of "RESPECT THEIR PRONOUNS" is getting on my last fucking nerve. It's hard to keep up with pronouns when subjects have female names, and it's understandable for people to put "she" without remembering this rule, and also there's the fact that 99 percent if not 100 percent of these subjects are faking being trans along with every other thing they fake.

Might as well say RESPECT THEIR EDS, POTS, DID, etc.

That sub was refreshing but the first post I see today is a pissy mod post about RESPECT PRONOUNS with a lengthy lecture. I guess this is the only safe place for munch bashing without having to fucking tip toe around these batshit crazy people.

"Respect pronouns" except for the ones we don't like. Juniper wants it/it's.

I honestly hate the pronoun thing entirely, to be honest. Like, if a dude named John wants to experiment with she/her, said dude doesn't actually hear people call him a her. The whole pronoun system depends on unrelated 3rd parties to defend the pronoun's honor or some shit.

Add in neopronouns, and now regular folks are expected to learn, remember, and use extra bits of information about random people that they probably don't want to know.

Fuck, man, I have trouble with names. I am not going to remember to call you "they" when you're wearing fake eyelashes.

Reddit’s rules have changed to the point that disrespecting pronouns repeatedly could get the subreddit banned for any one of a number of reasons.

If the subreddit is to have any sort of longevity, sitewide rules must be adhered to.

You'd think they'd back off a bit on this shit after that trans pedo-loving admin was outed.

Nah, they'd have to admit that the extreme levels of transphobia-phobia are ridiculous.

I'm not transphobic. I don't care what you do or don't do with your clothing choices or body, just leave me the fuck alone.

Any movement in general that relies on random people to buy in way more than the people that it's about is getting the side eye from me.

Another example not trans related is the "everyone should carry narcan so nobody ever dies of an OD" thing. I've seen that sentiment on local facebook groups. I joined these fucking groups to find out local stuff like "who has the best Cubano" and about food truck locations and shit. Not to get a lecture on how someone will die of an overdose because I don't carry narcan.

My thoughts too. So we need to call the subjects out on their fabricated illnesses but pander to their gender delusions? Its just another mental illness after all.

I mention this because I am completely convinced that some of these women were probably just lesbians who were repulsed by the idea of marrying a man but unable to find a way out other than "be sick, stay at home." The fact that James had a lifelong female companion she lived with is not quite the smoking gun it would appear to be, but I have to admit that was the first thing my brain went to especially after reading that both were educators at one point. The book Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers by Lilian Faderman has a whole chapter on these wealthy, super-educated women of the very late 19th century going into academia so they enter into "companionships" with other highly educated women and no one would bother them.
This is really interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing.

The book I read actually talked about sickroom culture and, yes, how some women would fake illness to opt out of something ... or just to get some peace and quiet! What stood out to me about the Alice James case wasn't just that she was malingering in some form (consciously or unconsciously), but how thrilled she seemed to be to have a diagnosis of a real, incurable, inevitably fatal (at the time) disease. Breast cancer is horrible, but she was going "Yay! Finally a diagnosis I can use to prove the haters wrong!" It reminded me of how our munchies here react when they, say, get a tube or have a hand amputated.

Furthermore, even when she was in her Boston marriage and thus living independently from her family, she was still doing it. You'd think her symptoms would abate once she'd achieved her end, but even in her private diary she was bemoaning her torments from a cracked window. It gave me a munchie vibe.

Certainly interesting to think about ... but I reckon if I keep going, I'll end up in a major derail, so I'll stop there. :D

I'm probably in the minority view in Kiwifarms, but I don't have a problem with respecting pronouns for people who actually do feel they're the opposite gender. I think it's a thing.

Most troons posted on the farms obviously aren't that. They're either blokes with a fetish (like the tranchers or Yaniv), child abuse victims who've been brainwashed into thinking they're trans (I Am Jazz or Aimee Challenor - although most of Aimee's compatriots are predatory men with fetishes) or munchie-esque attention seekers (like Milo Stewart).

It's verboten to acknowledge that in polite society and suggest someone isn't a True and Honest Trans, though, just like it's verboten to suggest that the borderline woman claiming to have been raped by 50 different people is probably making it up. Which is how you end up with subreddits insisting that you call the person who is clearly faking a range of rare medical disorders "bunself".

It also has people talking about their own feeding tubes and epipens and whatnot in every other thread and how they're so much better than any of the subjects because they don't show off their shit in public except maybe sometimes. One of the things that makes Kiwifarms so good is the no powerleveling rule, all other places are full of that bullshit and it makes them unreadable.

Unless you're hanging around junkies in the sketchy McDonald's in town, I don't see why you should have to? Should we all carry insulin in case a random person needs that? How about an epipen? That's just kind of dumb to expect random people to do for you. How about the person suffering from these things carries around their own shit? Lol this probably came off more rude than I intended but if you're dumb enough to inject a bunch of heroin and pills buy your own (free with insurance) narcan.

There's a secret part of me that hopes some of the most discussed munchies change their IG pages to state that their pronouns are kimchi/kimcher one week and podlee/podler the next just to watch the angst and effort of the mods on there to make sure all commentary is "respectful". The vibe of munchsnark and illness fakers is so bizarre. I do have a look around at those power-leveling their super serious illnesses though and cruise the elhers danlos r/ too to see whats trending with the crazies these days.

As to pronouns: I am old, I will call you he, she, or dumb fuck--whichever you prefer. I will not use plural words to refer to a single person. I will not even contemplate a world that expects neopronouns to be a valid thing.

Long time lurker, but had a look at the petition mentioned by @Chicken Picnic and wanted others' thoughts on Emily Bean (petition creator).

This is no timeline, so I apologise, just some of the more ridiculous posts. She seems to be collecting the diagnoses quickly. Claims hyperadrenergic PoTS which causes her to faint all the time (all those faints with her slightly increasing BP.....), even in A&E waiting rooms where she claims she was left (never seen a true witnessed collapse left on a floor in a hospital, especially in an entrance - if nothing else the staff themselves would know it was bad PR even if it was clearly faked!).
View attachment 998995

Private appts for EDS (UK based so not typical for first specialist assessment given NHS), within tiny time frame forked out for the upright MRI and looking for Gilete's involvement. Obviously moving on to now have CCI (with internet collar purchase and pretty sure her FB page had her MRI shared, every slice).

She's gone as far as either buying or renting a defib for POTS and "airways issues" her doctors have politely called laryngeal spasms!

Hey, Emily here! Thanks for the questions.

Hey! Emily here, thanks for the questions.

I do have hyperadrenergic PoTS yes, as well as a couple of the Comorbiditys, which is fairly common.

My issues started in 2017, so by no means were the diagnoses "collected quickly".

Yes I do experience fainting episodes, however these more vary on my environment and activities, eg I'f it's a warm day, I'm in the shower or cooking, it tends to happen more. I have no idea what my blood pressure does during them.

I did indeed pass out in the entrance at A&E, we (my partner and I) were already booked in at the time, their air conditioning was broken, so we requested to wait outside, but unfortunately I collapsed on the way out & no support was offered.

I did get a private appointment to see rheumatology as their NHS wait at my local hospital was 18 months, we saw the exact same consultant, just in the private hospital, which is on the same grounds as the NHS one.

The reason we rushed through the rheumatology appointment was because I had been off work for some time and I was getting pressure from my company to return.

Gilete did review my scan as at the time he was the nearest specialist but obviously we didn't want to rush straight into surgery, so took my scans to the NHS to ask for guidance, despite the current situation.

Gilete also reccomended the hard collar for travelling in, so we brought one as advised to bridge the gap until NHS surgical appliances could properly fit one, which took a few months to organise.

We do own a defibrillator yes, there's a local community initiative in our area where voulenteers can attend emergency call outs, if they are closer than the nearest ambulance.

Best wishes

Emily

This new munchie, Casey, basically doxed himself into being noticed by posting himself to TikTok cringe (labeled as Wholesome), as "Wheelie Boye does a spin", where he gets a wheelchair for his severe POTS. Because Casey is either a moron, or thinks that the internet is a supportive hug box, they posted their paypal, handles and email addresses all over any site that would take them.

Summary:
Casey is a 18 year Old Canadian trans man, who lives in Ontario CA in their parent's home. He at one point mentions university/school but has since dropped out. Their identity shifts across their
timeline, and includes identifying as frog-gendered, identifying as a system, and having a "Little" in their system named froggy. They frequently mention having a athletic past as a canoer, and also was
seeking advice on roller skating while claiming to be bedbound for over a month. On the medical side of things Casey claims a variety of illnesses both mental and physical and shifts
from a dysautonomia symptoms -> potentially have POTS -> Self-DX POTS -> wheelchair user all in the
span of less than a week. It seems that as new shiny diagnoses come in old ones are discarded.

What is the title of this book, please?

What is the title of this book, please?
"Inside the Victorian Home: A Portrait of Domestic Life in Victorian England" by Judith Flanders. It examines rooms according to different stages of life, so the sickroom/death culture stuff is all in the last chapters. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Damn, this kid is constantly asking for $$ online. I think I find the fact that they're watching kids, when they claim to be unable to move very odd. Steven universe for toddlers--the autism is strong in this one. (Also the answer to their question in this post is ask their parents if/what type of media they are allowed to consume.)
